4 Crusade of Blood (1/2)
Chapter 4: Crusade of Blood
Nye had shown Finch to his work place, allowing him to put away his things. He seemed rather happy with the size, compared to his previous abode. Nye leaned to the doorway looking Finch's direction.
”Such a fine set up. I do believe this workplace will suffice greatly, miss Nye.” Finch chuckled.
”I'm pleased you think so.” Nye spoke up. ”Finch.”
Finch glanced over, ”Something I can assist you with before I settle in?”
”I had further questions on the Dream Weavers, seeing how you have more knowledge on them, than I.” Nye stated.
”The man with the Spider tattoo plagues you still. My queen, you should not concern yourself with his kind. They lead to nothing but mishap and despair.” Finch explained.
”If I am to cross paths with him again, and things go the route they had before; I should know what I'm up against.” Nye crossed her arms.
”If you insist.” Finch clears his throat, setting down his mask. ”Dream Weavers, malicious hybrids, who dance with the power of blood based magic. Do not let the name fool you, for they do not weave pleasant dreams, but they are pestilent fiends who brew your worst nightmares. These fiendish things entice fear, reaping as they visit when you sleep. They devour dreams, leaving a gift of fear in it's place. There is no boundaries of how dangerous the Dream weavers can become, death, decay, plagues of evil and destruction... it goes on like a song, for a beast such as they, are why children fear to slumber. Rhymes tremble from the likes of them as much as you or I, because they sought out violence and destruction of one's mind eye. Rhyme do not see them for what they are, grouping them with us instead.” He explained, in his usual manner of tongue.
Nye held her chin, ”Gathering from what you said, they eat dreams of people. So they are the reason for nightmares... interesting. I also noticed the blood magic when we clashed blades. What else can you tell me, Finch?”
”For a Queen, you have as much curiosity as a Princess. Very well, I shall go on as you wish. Legend proclaims, beings such as those Dream weavers, are the result of reincarnation for lost souls of the damned... Destined to be forsaken in their new life.” Finch went on.
”Like punishment for crimes of their past lives? So, murder?” Nye was rather intrigued.
Finch looked to Nye, ”Murder can lead to it, yes. There is far more ways, such as sundering nature. To go against the laws of how they are. Ultimate crimes, any form of blasphemy.”
”In other words, Scientists can become one? (That would make sense with that vision I had, but who was he to me, in that previous life?)” Nye pocketed her hands.
”Indeed. Not all who take a life, are punished with the strife of being a Dream weaver, however. They had to go real far for the seal to be fulfilled.”Finch explained further. ”As for notable weaknesses. I am unsure, but the more the blood and fear, the more powerful they become. ”
”I see. Well, I'll keep that in mind.” Nye pushed off from the wall.
”Be wise and do not seek that one out, my queen.” Finch reached for a book, opening it. ”Before you go. There was another matter, that caught my attention. In the depths of these dungeons, another legend caught my eye. A crystal colored like blood. It's foretold that it has magic powers, but to touch it, for one would fall victim to it's spell. If you are to come across such a mystery, please avoid it.” Finch turned his back to Nye.
”Noted.” Nye exited his workplace.
Elsewhere, a group of Templar elites were stationed inside a cathedral type room. The night sky illuminated through the stained glass window, casting shadows over most of their faces. At the center was the Templar baroness, with crossed arms.
”I see that Grand Master Aoba, didn't waste time gathering all of his Templar captains here tonight. Allow me to explain the situation that has caused concern for the people of Desdemuna. We have reports that the Amygdala that we had detained some time ago has escaped his confinement. This pest was incarcerated due to violent acts, and manslaughter. It is up to us, as the Templar elites, to capture this demon, or if it comes down to it, kill him. He continues to elude our lower squads, as well as more than just the Rhyme. We need to get him before he can do more damage.” The Baroness proclaimed.
”Ser Astrid Séraphin. If I may.” Spoke up one of the Templar elites, a dark skinned girl with black pony tails stepped forth. She wore oriental designed garbs, colored mostly light green and yellow.
”Of course Knight of the wind, Ayame Shizuko.” Astrid replied, stepping to the side as the other took the pedestal.
”As proclamation of the Rhyme, it is our solemn duty to rid these lands of any foul heathen who harms anyone for unjust callings. Everyone of us are to be stationed in various locations to seek out this culprit, in hopes to detain him sooner. Aoba wants all ground covered, and the skies to be watching the land. This bastard will be caught, or put down if he tries to flee.” Ayame stated.
”Egad! Pray tell, how douth such a fiend abscond undetected, mi'lady?” A centaur woman with purple hair spoke up. She had on a lovely black and blue gown.
”I suspect someone fell asleep on the job.” Spoke up a red haired woman with white robs.
”Viceroy, Lyra Daigneau, please. This Amygdala deliberately murdered Captain Margo, and escaped his confinement even with the outnumbered circumstances.” Astrid looked over to the others.
”Forsooth? Alack... I crave thou's pardon, but douth it beith feasible for such a event to occur?” The centaur woman spoke up once more.
”Chevalier, Sally Night does pose a plausible question.” Agreed a silver haired man with cross tattoos on his face, with blue and purple robes.
”Viceroy, Dimitri Crauz. I am surprised to hear thou speak up in court.” Lyra looked over, playfully.
”Do not get used to it.” Dimitri sneered.
The entire courtroom was noisy with murmurs of the many elite knights.
”Order please...” Astrid sighed. ”Where are the grand chancellors when we need them? Please refrain from confrontation with yourselves. We need to handle the situation, as The Grand Master demands it.”
The group of Templars quieted down from the command.
”Allow me to continue, we'll go over the information gathered on this wanted man and apprehend him once the given opportunity is available. With assistance from the Lupis and the Terra we'll cover more ground. Now, as for the description...” Ayame cleared her throat, as the counsel resumed their talks on the matter.
As the sun was barely rising, Nye and Miles were walking down the cobblestone roads of the city.
”What's with 'this' getup?” Miles asked, in an almost mutter.
Nye was wearing an alternate outfit, that seemed better for stealth. ”It's getting close to daybreak. This attire will help confuse Templar, and make it harder to track me.”
”Unlike the regular clothes you had when I first met you?” Miles crossed his arms, unamused.
”Yes, those blend in too, but this will shroud my face if detected.” Nye chuckled, with a sly grin, almost as if teasing him.
”Oh, different kind of camouflage... right... So, where are we going?” Miles inquired, boredly with his arms behind his head.
”I've heard conversations of Amygdala and Fiends who have a secret location. Supposedly, Rhyme do not know of it's existence, or assume it to be rumor.” Nye explained.
Miles lowered his hands, ”So, we're going to investigate or something?”
”You got it. We get access to this location, and that gives us potential allies, as well as a hub for meeting outside of the hideout. ” Nye glanced over, a hood over her head.
”Who did you hear this from anyway?” Miles looked off.
”Anonymous sources, basically word of mouth. In a sense, it 'could' actually be a rumor. However, if there is a chance it might be legit, I think we should look into it. It was a while ago when I heard about it, but if this place exists, then I want to find it.” Nye pocketed her hands.
”Riiiight. Well, following you.” Miles huffed.
Nye patted his head, getting a brief, hazy memory of petting a calico cat in a dark apartment, before coming back to reality.
Elsewhere, a chase was commencing down one of the dank alleyways. A hoard of Templar followed Baroness Astrid, in pursuit of the mysterious man with the Spider tattoo.
”Don't let him get out of your sights! Keep on him!!” She shouted, readying her crossbow.
”...” The sharp gaze glanced back, as an arrow plowed his way.Quickly he fazed into darkness. A few droplets of blood hit the stoned streets.
”Contact. He won't get far! Keep the pressure!” Astrid ordered, as other Templar got their weapons at bay.
”Master.” Spoke a brown haired dog leashed, that caught up to the Templar pack.
”Elliot, sniff him out. This bloody bastard is not getting away on my watch!” Astrid commanded.
”How can you be sure he won't fly away this time?” Elliot looked to her, as he caught up.
”Intuition. (He hasn't flown away before, so why now? I'd bet zircon, that this maggot can't fly.) Now, after him!” Astrid insisted.
”Very well master. I'll find him.” Elliot nodded, zipping ahead of the Templar with ease.
”Follow my lead soldiers!” Astrid said, forming angel wings, as she flew behind her leashed.
The hoard continued, reaching the dark corner of a dead end in the alleys. Elliot stood in the center, sniffing the air. The templar group gathered, all looking around frantically except for Astrid and her leashed.
”On guard.” Astrid held her hand to her men. ”Don't falter.”
”Where is he?” One spoke up.
”Did he fly away?” Another asked.
”He's near...” Elliot stated, quietly.
The area around them began to flow with green fog. From it, came an odd reverberating sound, echoing around them. Astrid kept on guard.
”Scout, go locate Ayame. We may need her assistance.” Astrid instructed.
”Y-Yes ser!” The scouted stammered, using angel wings to fly off from their party of Templar.
From the dark corner, lashed out a set of bloody tentacles, grabbing to one of the nearby Templar soldiers. He screamed, as the second tentacle fashioned it's around his neck. The other Templar grew uneasy, turning to see the man lifted to the air. Each tentacle pulled to the left or right, his flesh being stretched apart. Strands of skin began to tear, as his body was pulled in two. The man's organs escaped his stomach, as blood seeped to the cobblestone beneath him. The screams died out, as his body was thrown to the ground. Movement ceased from the corpse, as the others got their guard up. Some of them were shrieking in horror.
”Men! Under no circumstances are we to retreat. We'll have this bastard!” Astrid ordered.
”I didn't know an Amygdala could do this...” Shivered a Templar.
”I don't think he is one...” Elliot kept close to Astrid. ”Master.”
