'I am going to get married!!!'

Huang Qiuyan tried her best to look like she had no idea what was going on here. There was no way that she couldn't guess what was about to happen. She had been visualising this scene ever since she attended her friend's wedding.

After more than a hundred and fifty-six rejections (Yes, she counted them), there was a man who wanted to marry her. She wanted to cry the tears of happiness. She already had everything planned. A western styled wedding. Her wedding gown. The guests. The food. The wedding hall. The best month to get married. The number of children they would have after their wedding.

She would get married before her thirtieth birthday.

This was their third date. It's not like she loved this man. Zhao Zhu was a lawyer in his late thirties. They have been set up by their relatives. He was good-looking enough if she squinted her eyes.

”Huang Qiuyan, you look nice in that dress,” Zhao Zhu told her with a smile.

”Thank you,” She replied politely. It was the third week of December. The restaurant was crowded with couples. She looked at the couples in love and wondered if she could find happiness with Zhao Zhu. She felt her heart resisting for some reasons. She didn't feel anything for him. But She was already twenty-eight. All of her high school female friends were married with kids. Her twin brother was married with three kids. She had waited for so long for love to knock on her doors. It never happened. In high school, she was rejected by every boy she confessed to. Her situation didn't change in university. Her life didn't improve after she got the job as a clerk in a bank. Her age was a ticking clock. After many failed blind dates, she was tired and ready to marry anyone who wasn't a criminal.

Huang Qiuyan was lost in her thoughts. Zhao Zhu coughed twice to get her attention. She didn't look at him all. He became irritated and tapped the table hard.

”Hmm?” Huang Qiuyan snapped back to reality. She found Zhao Zhu staring at her. She pretended to be shy and looked down meekly like a new bride as her mother had trained her. Zhao Zhu sighed when he saw her like that. Huang Qiuyan wasn't his first choice. But Zhao Zhu was already thirty-nine. He wanted to get settled as soon as possible. Huang Qiuyan was just available.

If he couldn't get married to his Qi-er, it didn't matter who he married.

”I think that we are a good match.” Zhou Zhu rested his elbows on the table. He noticed the Huang Qiuyan's eyes become bright when he said that.

”We should get our marriage registered next week. Don't worry about the procedure. Just come to the civil office with your documents.”

”Let's order food, shall we?” Zhao Zhu picked up the menu.

Just then, a dishevelled and shaken woman in her mid-twenties walked toward their table. Her eyes were red and swollen eyes like she had a bad cold. Her flawless skin was pale. She was wearing a thigh-length crimson dress. She stopped near Zhao Zhu who was preoccupied with the menu. He didn't notice her at all. Huang Qiuyan felt awkward when she saw the woman's fixated stare on Zhao Zhu.

Bad feeling x 1

”Is something wrong?” She asked the woman.

”Qi-er?” He was startled when he saw her. ”Why are you here?”

Qi-er didn't say anything. She stepped closer to him. Zhao Zhu tried to stand when she grabbed his shoulder. She forced him to sit back.

”Qi-er, what are you doing?” Zhao Zhu was agitated. His head was full of hopeful thoughts. Was she going to kiss him? Did she become jealous because he was dating someone else? Was she coming back to him?

Bad feeling x 2.

Qi-er opened her mouth and barred her teeth. Zhao Zhu was horrified to hear the animalistic growl from Qi'er. Huang Qiuyan noticed the pointy white canines of Qi-er. Before anyone could react, Qi-er bit his throat. The people close to Zhao Zhu could hear the sound of flesh tearing when her canines dug into his skin.

'What just happened?'
