Chapter 9 - Only Fools Agree (1/2)

“Sign your name here.” The man had absolutely no intention of explaining the reason behind but took the document directly from the assistant and handed it to her.

If his grandmother had not pushed him into marriage or found out what had happened last night, Gu Yeze would not be so anxious.

It took him only half an hour this morning to figure out Bai Weijin’s family background. Contrary to Miss. Tan, she had no complicated family relationships, and thus would cause him no trouble. Besides, her strong character could hopefully help her avoid being bullied in the midst of possible rivalry with his grandma.

After some consideration, Gu Yeze found it was a favorably good choice.

Bai Weijin stared at the pages he handed, on which the words were written in black and white.

A MARRIAGE AGREEMENT!!!

She found herself even unable to recognize those words. Despite her acquaintance of each of them, Bai Weijin was confused with the actual meaning of the very phrase.

Wasn’t it really a notification of critical illness?

She could hardly accept it even after what he had done to her.

Was it possible that he fell in love with her last night?

Bai Weijin quickly vetoed the idea the moment it struck her.

She did look good, but Gu Yeze, a man of great power, must have seen and even made love with women who were more beautiful. How could he take a fancy to her who not only had no sexual experience but failed to appreciate “his kindness”?

Maybe he was mentally retarded?

Having received no reply from Bai Weijin for a while, Gu Yeze was annoyed and ran out of his patience, “your opinion.”

“Well…” Bai Weijin gave a wry smile and tried to face the fact that Gu Yeze wanted her to sign the marriage agreement, “It’s too late today. The Civil Affairs Bureau is gonna close, so is the Registry of Marriage. I’m afraid we can’t make it today.”

“Sign it, and you can see the marriage certificate in less than an hour. ”

Well… Money talked! It did talk.

Bai Weijin took a deep breath as if making a big decision. Picking up the pen shakily, she stared closely at the paper, propped the tip of the pen on it, but wrote no word down for a while.

She uttered an exclamation, turning her head in puzzlement to look at the man who still looked calm, “What does this mean? I don’t get the point…”
