Chapter 199. The antagonist (1)

”What have you been reading since the morning?”

White bear asked Ren as he took a bite out of the steamed bun in his hand. They were currently sitting on a bench in an outdoor set.

They were here to shoot an advertis.e.m.e.nt for a pair of shoes. The theme of the advertis.e.m.e.nt was common. It emphasised on the strong quality of the shoes.

Ren didn't have to do much in this advertis.e.m.e.nt. There were some stunts to do in the advertis.e.m.e.nt but they will be done by the stuntmen.

He wanted to do the stunts himself but the company advised him to not take any risk. If he gets injured, they will lose millions of dollars.

Ren was too valuable or it can be said that his face was too valuable.

”It's a book about music.”

Ren answered White bear while flipping the pages of the book. White bear glanced at the cover when he heard that.

The title of the book was 'Harmonics and music'. It was a title that White bear was not able to comprehend.

”What are harmonics?”

”You can consider them the sequence of sounds or the frequency of notes.”

”What's that?”

White bear was confused after hearing that explanation. As a person with less than basic understanding in music, terms like harmonics and notes were incomprehensible for White bear.

”I don't know how to explain it?”

Ren was also a newbie in musical theory and harmonics. He didn't know how to explain it to White bear.

White bear also didn't give up. He read out a paragraph from the book, trying to understand it.

”1st, 4th, 5th, and 8th are called the Perfect intervals, and 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th are called the Major intervals. It's easier to understand if you think of the piano. C to E is a 3rd, C D E makes a major 3rd. Meanwhile, C D E F makes a perfect 4th. Also…”

White bear's expression kept getting worse, the more he read the paragraph. In the end, he decided to focus on his steamed bun, rather than the complicated 'Harmonics'.

For him, the half eaten steamed bun in his hand was the best thing in the world, much better than the complicated musical theory.

”Shouldn't you be reading the screenplay of «Slayers» rather than that book?”

White bear said, swallowing the whole steamed bun.

”I just wanted to take some time off to read this?”

”You already read through the whole screenplay?”

White bear asked and Ren nodded while closing the 'Harmonics and music' book.

”Were you able to pass the audition? No, that's a really silly question. You would obviously be able to pass the audition.”

White bear corrected his sentence in the middle. Ren was not the same kid he used to go to auditions with, he was now a full fledged celebrity with no flops in his acting career.

However, Ren shook his head and said.

”No, I don't know if I would be able to pass the audition or not.”

”Huh? Why is that?”
