112 Return To Work (1/2)
Training was as tough as it had always been. The duo carried their tired bodies home with Kim threatening to give up as easily as she started. While Carl reminded her of her promise to improve her physical strength.
It was like any other day until Carl received a call from an unknown number, ”Outside, now.” A gruff voice drifted through the phone before the line went dead. Carl who had figured out that it was Chamberlain, opted to ignore the call. He did not have to take instructions from anyone who wasn't related to him. Why should he listen to his command? Besides he did not want to see him.
He put down the phone, to continue his board game with Kim. ”You moved your game when I wasn't watching,” he shouted.
”Did not!”
Glaring at her, he moved her game to its original position, ”It was here.”Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please clickfor visiting.
”No, it wasn't,” she argued, moving the game to her intended position. ”You shouldn't turn your eyes from the game then accuse me of cheating,” Being scolded by Kim when she was in the wrong made him wonder about life. People really do throw the blame on others. While he was contemplating his next move, his phone rang again.
”What?!” He snapped.
”Don't force my hand,” the gruff voice warned before cutting the line again.
He took a glimpse of Kim before excusing himself, ”I'll be right back. Don't think about moving anything, else you'll be in charge of cleaning too.”
…
Chamberlain sized Carl up once he saw him come out of the elevator, ”I thought you wouldn't come out.”
”And why am I here?” He casually asked in reply.
”I can't possibly wait for you to weigh the pros and cons of working for me…”
Carl quickly interrupted, ”I never considered that, I'm not interested.”
Chamberlain gave him a warning glare before he continued, ”I've come to make it easier for you, you either go back to work and wait for further instructions or we could do this the hard way. I'm fine with whichever you choose. But the hard way may incur collateral damage.”
At the mention of collateral damage, Carl was visibly shaken as his mind wandered to Kim, who was busy rearranging the board game. His complexion paled in contrast with Chamberlain who was looking as fine as he could be.
As he spoke, some men in black suits made their way towards him whilst the others headed for the elevator. It was obvious he was referring to Kim.
”Stop!.” Carl uttered. But they ignored his command as they continued forward. Realising he wasn't joking, he made to accept his demand, ”I'll return to work,” he pleaded.
