128 Brother (1/2)
Carl went back to the company, he hurriedly completed his work, shut down everything then hurried home.
He keyed in the password and opened the door. When he got to the living room, he was surprised to see Kim and her friends sprawled on the floor with popcorn everywhere. It seems they were having a movie marathon.
Isabella's eyes and mouth were agape. She hurriedly brushed off the popcorn on her body as she got up, ”How come you're here?” She asked almost stumbling towards him. Her appearance less than elegant.
She cursed under her breath. Why did he have to see her in her current state. She shot daggers at Sean, he was the one who started the popcorn fight. Now, in front of her crush…. How embarrassing!
Carl raised his brow at her, then he recalled she was Chamberlain's sister. ”You're friends with Kim?” He frowned.
Carl did not know she was the friend that Kim was talking about. When he went to pick her up from the club, he did not see any of them. In the video, he saw only Sean. He had assumed her female friend was her roommate but never Chamberlain's sister.
He wondered if he should tell Kim to stay away from them or leave it be. His thoughts were interrupted by Kim, ”You're back so early?”
Carl smiled warmly, ”I finished up early.”
Sean who had been lying on the floor also got up.
The three of them stood on one side while Carl stood by himself.
Isabella was frantically trying to clean up her disheveled hair and rumbled clothes.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please clickfor visiting.
”Who is he?” Sean asked.
Carl looked at Kim, wondering what she would say to her friends.
Unexpectedly, Kim turned to Sean before answering, ”My brother.”
At that moment, Carl felt he should have listened to Chamberlain and eaten that lunch even if his fianceé was against it.
”The one that picked you up from the club?” Sean recalled.
Carl was sure that she had made her decision, he was her brother. His chest tightened. He felt like he couldn't breathe.
”Excuse me,” he said in a wobbly voice. He rushed upstairs.
He had always felt she would eventually say yes to him. From when they made out on the bed, he felt she liked him but was afraid to open up to him.
Was it that she couldn't reject him openly? Or did she really like that guy?
He really didn't know, all he could think of was that video of them laughing and playing together. His eyes reddened.
He should have known she wasn't ready for a relationship and stayed away. Now he was hurt. It was his fault. She just began life, she could not be tied down by him.
Carl did not know how long he sat on the floor. The silence was starting to get to his head, it made him uncomfortable.
He stepped into the bathroom and turned on the tap and the shower. Sometimes noise was a form of assurance that you are not alone.
