167 That Unknown Man is my Husband (1/2)

”O God! I can't believe this! How stupid can you be? To live with a man you aren't related to in anyway… what if he's a criminal or has immoral thoughts about you? How can you be so comfortable? You even lied to us, your friends, to me.”

Towards the end, his voice was reduced to a whisper. The idea of her living with an unknown man infuriated him and he was having a hard time keeping his temper in check.

On the other hand, hearing him assume Carl was a criminal pissed her off. She thought, ”What criminal? What immoral thoughts? Considering they were married, if indeed he has those thoughts then they aren't immoral.”

She clenched and unclenched her fist. With gritted teeth, she managed to say, ”Don't you dare say that.”

How could he say those words without knowing Carl. She trusted him enough to know he wasn't a criminal.

Truthfully, Kim was well aware that letting a stranger live with her, especially a male stranger, was dangerous. It was a huge risk because he could have been a rapist or a murderer. Yet she took her chance with him because it felt right. And he didn't fail her either. He made sure she never regretted her decision to help him just as he had helped her.

If he truly was a criminal, he's had the chance to ruin her, they lived together, ate the same food and also slept together, for a good year. Yet, he had been patient with her, putting her first, loving her.

So how could she stand it when someone else who has no idea who he is comes along to talk shit about him. She really wanted to smack his pretty face, perhaps he wouldn't have the courage to say such nonsense to her.

Like he didn't hear her the first time, Sean continued, ”It doesn't sit right with me, you have to move out of that house. You can't keep staying with an unknown man.”

”Watch your tone! You may be my friend but you have no right to question my decision or pry into my private life unless I let you. I'm only telling you this to avoid unnecessary situations.”

Her words were like sharp blades, cutting him deeply. He bit his lower lip, ”Did you ever consider us your friends?” In truth, the real question is, ”did you ever consider me a friend?”

Kim at that point was exasperated, she felt he was trying to make her feel guilty by saying those words. She knew that Sean only said those words because he cared about her and besides he didn't know Carl but the more she thought of his insinuation, the more angered she was.

Thus, she knew her next words were hurtful but she still said them, ”Sean, don't whine like a child. You speak like I know everything about you. It's my life, I choose who I let in and not the other way round. Don't overstep the boundary.”

At that point, her phone rang, letting her know Carl was there to pick her up, she grabbed her things, then she declared, ”And just so you know, that unknown man is my husband, he comes before you, before anyone else.”

It wasn't part of her plan to reveal that she was married to Sean given that she had just kissed him. That would make her seem unfaithful and indecisive but she was pissed by all the assumptions that she couldn't help but blurt out the truth.

Sean had a hard time digesting those words especially the part about her being married to Carl. He wanted to ask her when she got married, he also wanted to apologize for coming out too strongly but she was gone before he could react.

He sat there for a while lost in thoughts before running after her. When he traced her steps, he saw her embrace then kiss Carl. Sean watched as her eyes lit up when he held the door open for her. The way Carl shielded her when she got into the car and her bright smile— he had never seen her smile that way before.

This scene was enough to make him stop in his tracks. Instantaneously, the words she said earlier replayed in his head. He nodded his head as if to convince himself, ”Right, she's married.”

He understood that if what Kim said was a lie to get him off her back, it didn't matter because they were definitely together.

The news today was a shocker and her words were indeed hurtful. He rubbed his face as if to clear those words but he felt exhausted.

After getting into the car, Carl questioned, ”You don't look too good, what's wrong?”
