181 Perfect Reason (1/2)

The next day being Monday, and the first day of the month of May, Carl drove Kim to school. She was a student after all and needed to study.

He wanted her to move back to school but he did not know when he could see her next. This was exactly because he had no idea when the case would come to an end. Whether he would win or not… it was still unknown, so he valued what little time he spent with her even more.

Frankly speaking, he was a bit unwilling to separate with her, whether it was for school or the case, it did not matter. He did not want to be away from her all the same. However, that was not his call to make. She had to concentrate on school work whether or not he scales through the problem. He couldn't be so selfish as to prevent her from leaving his side.

Well, his thoughts were not so different from Kims'. She knew she had to concentrate on school too, not just her relationship with Carl. Sometimes she wants to give up too and just let him pamper her.

However, she also wanted him to be proud of her, to be able to show her off to the world. Wouldn't he be too ashamed of her if she doesn't get her degree?

Definitely, if an aristocrat had a dropout for a wife, he would be mocked till eternity. She didn't want anyone to look down on both of them.

Of course, Carl wouldn't think that way but she still wanted to be great for both of them, if not for her parents at the very least.

So she came to the conclusion that she would put in double the effort to graduate early, join the workforce and be someone she would be proud of. That he would be proud of.

While on their way to school, Carl received a message from Mr. Anderson. He had forwarded the list of lawyers who could possibly take up the case.

As soon as Kim alighted the car, she saw Sean a few meters ahead of her. After kissing Carl goodbye, she met up with Sean to thank him once more before lectures began. Sean shrugged it off. It wasn't so important after all.

Carl watched all these happen but he wasn't that jealous— he had already left a glaring hickey on her neck and Kim who was unaware of his little act was wearing it unreservedly.

He wanted everyone to know she was taken and more importantly, she was his.

He waited until she disappeared before driving away with a victorious smirk on his face. If only he could have waited until Sean spotted her hickey, he would have been much more entertained.

Since he wasn't going to work, Carl decided to use the day to do a little research on those lawyers and also begin gathering evidence.

He had to come up with a plan to prove his innocence. The sooner, the better.

While this may be the case, no matter how prepared he was, he didn't expect certain things…

On his return, he called Allan to meet him at home. He still had a lot of instructions in case anything goes wrong.

When he got home, he began looking up the lawyers on the list. There were seven men and three women on the list.

Truthfully, his case wasn't that difficult but because Charles Stan planned on using him to cover up his crimes, it became difficult.

While Carl conducted his research, over at the capital, Charles Stan was carrying out his too. The capital, things were looking as splendid as ever as Charles Stan had found the perfect reason why Carl would commit those crimes.
