Chapter 21 (1/2)

CHAPTER 21

Framed

Holding a bag of chicken legs, An Chuxia remains in a trance. At her old school, the conditions weren’t as great but she was never called a maid either.

If her mother was still alive, she wouldn’t be living with the Han family; she wouldn’t be in Stein College; she wouldn’t have encountered Han Qilu or Mo Xinwei…

Tears silently stream down her cheeks.

“Oh, student, are you all right?” The supermarket cashier takes one look at An Chuxia’s tears and is suddenly concerned.

She shakes her head again and again saying it’s nothing. She runs out of the small supermarket so fast, she almost trips. Fortunately, she catches herself before falling.

She looks up at the blue sky. It seems her mother’s smiling face is looking after her.

“Mother, no matter how much pain I’m in, how much wrong is done against me, I will make your wish come true!” She grabs the chicken legs with renewed dedication.

On the other side of the playground, Ying Taoqiu scratches her head and apologizes to the teacher. “I am sorry teacher, I seem to have lost my memory. I didn’t mean to have you run around.”

The physical education instructor shakes his head. “It’s nothing. When do I have time to rest?” He refers to the Year One, Class A.

“But there’s a girl who’s been clamoring to get to the supermarket to buy food. She said she was hungry. I let her run and then go to buy her snack. She seemed unhappy about it. Teacher, did I do something wrong?”

The physical education instructor nods. His eyebrows knit. “You did what’s right. How can one run away and eat? Stopping her was right. Who is she? I will train her! “
