The warmth blanketing Lila reminds her of spring. Her body stops shivering when she emerges from the shadows. She raises her eyes cautiously, but is shocked when she realizes it is An Chuxia before her. “How can it be you?”
An Chuxia slightly lifts an eyebrow. “Why can’t it be me?” Her tone is akin to someoone discussing the weather as good friends. It is incredible how quickly Lila’s adrenaline settled. A moment ago, she was about to be humiliated by the beggars. Then, men in black suits rescue her.
In seconds, the beggars were killed. The scent of blood around her was nauseating. Her mind, muddled… .
“Why? Why do you want to save me? Do you think I’m a joke? If that’s the case, then, you’ve accomplished your mission… .” As Lila stands up, An Chuxia quickly follows her, offering a hand to help her up.
Lila looks at her with disdain and indifference. An Chuxia smiles faintly. “I don’t think you’re a joke. If I wanted one, I wouldn’t rush to a place that is this disgusting. It’s not rocket science. I’m just… I feel sorry for you. This is the only way I can reduce some of the pain I have caused.”
Her bravado doesn’t allow Lila to feel shocked. With a steady heart, she wants to listen to her go on. Bewildered, her lips slightly tremble. “Don’t pretend you’re good. It’s disgusting!”
Regardless of what Lila says, An Chuxia doesn’t care. However, steward Han couldn’t hold his peace. He frowns at her as he bellows, “Lady, our young madame was worried about you, and yet, you’re ungrateful!”
“Steward Han, it’s fine!” An Chuxia scolds the butler while smiling at Lila. “I did it for my conscience. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to sleep. That’s why I asked the bodyguards to save you. Do you hate me so much you won’t accept my kindness?”
Lila glances coldly at An Chuxia. She looks down on her. “Of course, I hate you! It’s because of you I’m reduced to this!”
An Chuxia is suddenly enlightened. She nods and says, “Well, it’s necessary for you to accept this favor. Bite the bullet to survive until one day, you’re strong enough to step on my foot bitterly.”
Lila looks at An Chuxia. She knows she is trying to comfort her but this situation is laughable. She has slept with her fiance. She wants to kill her. But this girl is either naive… or stupid? Is there another way?
She knows that possibility exists. She might as well have been a corpse, and she has been resurrected. An Chuxia is at an advantage. Lila raises her head, the smile on her mouth is vague. “I just want to tell you, I’ve gone to bed with the young master.”
An Chuxia gawks, but immediately smiles. “So?”
