1 Prologue (1/2)
So, I died. It was pathetic, really really pathetic. Death by fishcake, or rather Naruto. It's ironic considering where I was, in the middle of Akihabara, visiting the homeland of Naruto, my favorite anime. To think that I would choke on the very thing I came to admire, in a ramen stall doing a special promotion with the Naruto anime, for 50% off. Well it doesn't change anything anyway, I died and now I'm here.
Now as for where I am, I have no fucking idea. I guess you could call it a void, considering all the darkness around me. Well aside from the big glowing wheel in front of me, it was all black. Rather than void it should probably be called the afterlife, but it seems really boring compared to the heavenly paradise I was promised. The only thing to do here is to wait in line leading towards the wheel.
I estimate I'm about half way there by now. At least the pace is moving quickly, or this might as well be hell. I can't really see what's going on up front, but I've got hope. With my massive anime obsession, I often researched the Japanese folk lore and Buddhism along with other beliefs, and my best guess is that the big wheel is the wheel of samsara. In other words, the wheel of reincarnation.
Considering my shit luck up till now it makes perfect sense. I live in suffering, and then gets reborn into a better existence. At least I hope so otherwise I'm fucked, in all meanings of the word.
I guess I'll find out soon anyway, there's only about 20 people in front of me. It looks like there is a terminal and a portal right under the wheel. Do I have to register for something? It looks like some sort of interface, and the portal changes for every person, so I've come to the conclusion that I somehow get a choice.
Now you may be wondering; 'you just died how can you be so calm about it'. The truth is, I don't know, but I guess it helps that I have nothing to live for. My family already died in a plane crash years ago, leaving me all alone. Also, my favorite anime Naruto ended years ago, so I got nothing to regret on that front. In addition to that, I graduated university last year, earning my Ph. D. in physics.

Hmm? oh, I'm second in the queue now, guess I dosed of a little.

Finally, my turn, let's see. 'welcome to the wheel of samsara', I was right it seems, 'Subject have died early, and still has most of its life force in it. As such Subject has been given the right to choose one of the following worlds from subjects memory to reincarnate into'
So, I get to reincarnate, and in a different world at that. This is like every otaku's ideal situation, and I didn't even get hit by truck-kun nor meat the cliché old man. I guess I still get to reincarnate, and I still died anyway, so I better make the best of it.
