Ji Ziming looked up at Pei Ge. “Aren’t you worried?”
“What am I worried about? It’s normal that you can’t adapt at the moment, because I can’t either. I haven’t even sorted out how he became my uncle. I think my mom might not know that we have such a relative.”
Tears welled up in Pei Ge’s beautiful eyes, though it was hard to tell if it was from excitement or regret.
“Let’s go upstairs and take a look at Mr. Qu. Hmm, we should be changing how we address him in the future.”
Ji Ziming spread his hands as his lips twitched helplessly.
“Yeah, okay. Let’s go.”
Pei Ge stood up with a smile in her eyes. This sudden news made her even happier.
When the two of them reached Qu Xiujie’s room, Ji Ziming’s phone rang. It was a private phone call from home. Hearing that it was appropriate for him to be anxious, he picked up the call.
“Hello, Ziming? Where are you and Pei Ge?”
It was Mother Ji who spoke with a hint of anxiety and joy.
“We’re outside. Mom, why are you back?”
Ji Ziming did not receive any news about the recent use of the private jet. In fact, he did not expect Mother Ji to return so soon.
“I, ah, came back first. I didn’t take the flight home. I bought a first-class ticket and flew back. The chauffeur went to the airport to pick me up. You and Pei Ge should come back earlier. I made a big table of food for you guys. It’s all your favorite food. Auntie Zhang and I made it together.”
Mother Ji reported the delicacies before her as though she was presenting a treasure. Ji Ziming and Pei Ge stood outside Qu Xiujie’s room for more than ten minutes.
“How is it? Can you smell my fragrance even through the phone?”
Mother Ji’s eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
“Yes, Mom. Please wait a little longer. We’ll be back soon.”
Ji Ziming’s voice was clear. He thought that if he went back now, he might be able to reach home before Mother Ji’s soup was done cooking.
“Okay, then I’ll stay at home and wait for you guys to come back with the three children. You guys have to come back quickly. I feel that something is wrong with Ran Ran.”
Mother Ji was a little worried. From the moment she got off the plane to the Ji family’s villa, she noticed that Ran Ran’s face was slightly red even though her body did not feel warm. She did not know what the cause of her illness was, but Ran Ran seemed to be listless.
“Got it, Mom. We’re going back now.”
With that, Ji Ziming hung up and pulled Pei Ge down the stairs.
Pei Ge looked at him quizzically. “What’s wrong? What did you say over the phone? Why are you in such a hurry?”
She asked three questions in a row, but Ji Ziming only replied coldly.
“We are going home. Ran Ran seems to be sick.”
Ji Ziming was extremely anxious. Other than Pei Ge, he had never been so worried about anyone else.
“What’s wrong with Ran Ran?”
Pei Ge’s heart was in her throat as she looked at him nervously.
