Chapter 60 - You Just need a Good Laugh and a Long Sleep... (1/2)
The first time the Wizard tried to enter the founder Tower was the day he entered the Academy. He was only a young boy of eleven years. A commoner with a big talent and no parents, not many friends, and a whole bunch of crazy ideas about revenge. He knew that the tower was his best shot at getting back at those who decimated his people.
”I was young and naive, but handsome as ever,” he smiled at the guards following him, ”so be proud for having the opportunity to escort me.”
The guards didn't hear him as they were trembling in fear. Not only the Principal had called them that morning from their training in the knights' camps. He had even given them real swords, shields, and strong armors of his own invention for the task: 'Escort the idiot wizard Druon to the founder's Tower.'
”Sigh… now that I think back, that day the principal was that old man, where could he be these days, I guess he is still in the mermaids' city… sigh… I learned a lot of that man, he is like a father, and a hero for me.”
The guards were running out of sweat as the shaking of their legs and beatings of their hearts were taking all the energy from them. The fight or the scare hadn't even begun and their courage was already giving in.
”Yes, that old man gave me so much good advice and a list of places I had to visit if I wanted to alleviate my broken heart… wuwuwu… Elise, why?!”
Three guards were now being carried back because they had fainted from fear. Though, the silly Wizard didn't notice. Now from the twenty guards he had, there were only fourteen.
”Then when this Academy had the fortune to see me graduate after I presented my most outstanding final project… hey, do you know what my project was?”
The knight on the side hugging tightly his sword shook his head, ”N…n…no… Master Druon…”
”Oh, well, you should learn more about the most outstanding projects in the whole history of the Academy, I just had to make my project reach the fourth place.”
”Ahh! What was that?!”
The Wizard screamed with a high-pitched tone. So high that even some glass from a faraway place broke.
”The choir club, Master Druon,” the same knight on the side answered, they should not be afraid of those little girls. Their investigations said that they were not dangerous. They just liked to use the manual for torture volume 1, a beginner's guide. Nothing major.
Druon, on the other hand, didn't seem convinced by the group of knights that were more afraid of an invincible creature that only roared without even appearing than from a group of creepy girls inflicting torture from a manual to the students.
”Well…” he exclaimed after wiping the sweat on his forehead, ”as I was saying, my project was majestic… even the wizardly union praised it as the major invention of the year, though, they didn't give it the first place for lacking modesty, I guess.”
Then a loud roar came from the fence in front of them and a fierce wind almost sent them flying if not for the magic of the Wizard.
”Goodness, don't interrupt me when I am talking about my project!”
Wizard Druon was now covered in white light as his hand was extended to the front with the palm opened. His bright white magic was helping the knights have a bit of a sense of security. They were the ones that were supposed to protect the wizard, why were they being protected, though?
”Then as I was saying… my project made even my dear Elisa take a look at me for more than ten seconds. Do you know how wonderful I felt that day?”
”Yes, it was incredible, however, I don't know why they were scared of letting him out. My project was not an ordinary device after all. It was a living thing. Muahahahaha!”
Then again another roar, a bark, and the giggling of a girl.
”It was fantastic, but then that idiot Adam had to take it from me, he said he didn't trust me with the care of that magnificent creation. Can you believe it?”
The Knights, well, only one remained by the side of Master Druon. More because of the shock, and because the wizard was talking to him than anything.
