At almost the same time as Yun Qingyan’s command to Xiaoxuan, a gust of evil wind blew into the room and its strange sweet smell filled the room.
The rows of red candles were put out immediately and the entire room was plunged into a darkness where one couldn’t even see their own hand.
Yun Qingyan swiftly created a mound with her blanket, then nimbly hid by rolling over to hide under the bed and didn’t make a single sound.
“Young Mistress?” a gentle female voice called out from outside the door.
The only response she got was silence.
After that, a set of quiet footsteps came from the door.
In the dim moonlight, Yun Qingyan could see a slim and beautiful lady walk in from the door. Her footsteps were light and slow, but Yun Qingyan could still hear the tinge of nervousness hidden in those footsteps.
Someone with this level of boldness wanted to kill her? A look of disdain flashed in Yun Qingyan’s eyes.
Ziwan clenched her fists slightly. Her palms were already starting to sweat a little. She tried her best to breathe in a more relaxed manner as her gaze fell upon the scrunched up blanket on the bed.
She then pulled out a sharp dagger from her sleeve with a flourish.
If the candles were still lit, then one would be able to see that the knife was laced with a poison that was able to cut off one’s breathing upon contact with their blood. Its dark green color made one’s hair stand on end.
“Yun Qingyan, don’t blame me for this,” Ziwan said viciously as she stared coldly and maliciously at the scrunched up blanket.
“If you need to blame someone, then you have to blame yourself for being too much of an eyesore!” With that, she stabbed the knife down hard.
But the spurting of blood she expected did not happen. It didn’t feel like the dagger had stabbed into human flesh either. Instead, it felt like she had stabbed into a soft and fluffy cloth.
Ziwan was shocked and her hands trembled cruelly as she stabbed that bunched up blanket again and again. After a while, the blanket mound flattened itself out like it had been deflated.
There wasn’t anybody on the bed.
