48 Whats Your Dream? (1/2)

After some time, the doctor arrived and gave Samantha a check-up. Mr. & Mrs. Kim came as well to check on their daughter. Samantha was cooperative with the doctor although she didn't talk very much. After the check-up, Alice Kim went over to her daughter and helped her with food while Chairman Kim and Daniel went outside with the doctor to talk about her condition.

The doctor was the same doctor who diagnosed Samantha 12 years ago so he's already aware of her condition.

”She seems to have already recalled everything that happened in the past. For patients with this disorder, their mental state is quite vulnerable so family members must have patience.”

The 3 gentlemen discussed their course of action to help Samantha.

At lunchtime, Alexander Li visited the hospital after learning about Seo Joon's accident from Nathan, the news was contained so only a few people knew that it was Vice President Seo Joon Kim of Kimsun Electronics who was involved in the car accident. He also heard about Samantha so naturally, he dropped by her room.

When he got there, Samantha was asleep again and in the room was Samantha's mother and Hannah. Chairman Kim went back to the office to settle some important matters and Daniel headed back towards Samantha's room.

Alexander was about to leave the room when Daniel came in, it's probably their first time meeting. But Alexander didn't realize who he was at first, not until he was already back in the office because when he and Daniel met, they only exchanged polite nods.

”Daniel, you must be really tired of staying up late and taking care of Samantha, why don't you go home and have a rest?”, Mother Kim said as a concerned mother.

”I'm okay, auntie. Don't worry about me.”

Mrs. Kim nodded, she understood that Daniel probably wanted to stay by Samantha's side. She was also persuaded by Hannah to take a rest since she had been in the hospital since yesterday. Realizing that she also needed to shower and change clothes, she left the hospital.

Daniel stayed for the rest of the day in the room while he worked on his laptop on the sofa. Hannah also stayed until after dinner by her best friend's side.

Samantha was already awake before Hannah left but just the same, she didn't talk a lot and just remained quiet. Daniel wanted to talk to her but she is very conservative with her answers so he just let her rest. At 10 in the evening, Daniel fell asleep while he was on the sofa; after working and taking care of Samantha all day, he was really exhausted.

Samantha couldn't sleep so she went out of her room and wandered around the hospital. She walked until she ended up outside her brother's room. When she came inside the room, she found her mom sleeping on the spare bed so she quietly walked towards her brother's side.

”Joon, wake up now. How could you still be sleeping?”, she held her brother's hand and squeezed it lightly. After staying for another minute, she left the room quietly and sauntered towards the tall window near his room.

Daniel woke up and realized that Samantha wasn't in her bed. He abruptly stood up and checked the bathroom before going out to search for her. He reached the next floor where Seo Joon's room is and before he opened the room, Daniel noticed Samantha sitting on the bench not far from him. He breathed out a sigh of relief and walked towards her.

With the blanket in his hand, he wrapped it around Samantha. When she noticed a presence from behind, she was startled at first but then realized that it was Daniel.

”What are you doing here?”

”I couldn't sleep.”

”Do you want to go somewhere?”

Samantha looked at him as if he has read her mind; she wanted to leave the hospital. So, without saying anything else, she nodded. Daniel gave her a smile and helped her to stand. When they got into his car, Daniel suddenly recalled and was afraid that Samantha might feel uncomfortable in the car. ”Are you okay if we take the car? We can walk and go somewhere nearby.”

”I'm fine.”

After hearing Samantha's response, he started the engine and drove towards the countryside. Samantha was as usual just quiet for the entire car ride while looking out the window observing the lights and scenes before her. After an hour of driving, they reached the beachfront where Daniel brought her a month ago.

They sat in the sand and just looked at the waves in front of them. It was already midnight but the moonlight and some lamps gave enough light for them to enjoy the night view of the beach.

”Are we staying here the whole night?”, Samantha asked.

”Only for a bit. It's cold out here so we can't stay very long. It's not good for you.”

Samantha nodded. The sound of the waves made Samantha forget about her worries. She felt calm in the peacefulness of the sea and the sound lulled her to sleep. Her head landed on Daniel's shoulder and he realized that she had fallen asleep.

In her sleep, Samantha dreamt of Daniel. They were having breakfast near the sea, their table was full of delicious food and they were having a good time living a simple life.

”What's your dream?”, she asked.

”Hmmm... you first.”

”Well... I don't particularly have one but I'd like to see you in it.”, she said with a smile.

Daniel smirked at her, ”Is that a confession, Ms. Kim?”, he said in a teasing tone which made Samantha giggle ”What about you?”, she asked.

”Okay, then my dream is... ”
