Volume 6 Chapter 35 - Invading the Stantine Duchy (1/2)
“It’s the Stantine Duchy in front?” Chalon looked at the coast in the distance with narrowed eyes as he asked this.
“Yes, Lord Chalon. We’re not far from the coast now, we’ll reach Count Dole’s territory soon.” The one standing beside him was a kind looking slightly chubby middle aged man who respectfully replied when he heard this.
“It’s a pity that this place isn’t his territory anymore.” Chalon coldly said.
“Yes, yes, yes, Count Dole is currently in the Stantine Duchy jail and his private territory was already taken back by the Stantine Duchy congress.” The middle aged man said with a smile.
Chalon turned with a serious look and said, “I heard that all the territories of your Stantine Duchy nobles were all taken back by the congress?”
The middle aged man revealed an awkward look, “Yes, it was all taken back last year. So the place in front of us is called Count Dole’s territory, but it’s just the territory that he owned before.”
“Why would you agree?” Chalon asked him in a curious voice, “Count Andre, a territory is something that is more important to a noble than his life. But the Stantine Duchy congress took it back and you agreed?”
The middle aged man named Count Andre gave a bitter smile before saying with a sigh, “What could we do if we didn’t agree? That fellow Xu Yi forced this and if we didn’t agree, what was waiting for us was definitely the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards.”
Hearing Count Andre mention the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards, Chalon’s expression became a bit more serious. After thinking for a bit, he asked in a deep voice, “Are the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards very strong?”
Count Andre suddenly trembled. His eyes had a bit of fear as he said with a strong nod, “Very strong, truly strong! Lord Chalon, with all due respect, although the subordinates you’ve brought are all elites…..if you are facing the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards, please be careful.”
Chalon slightly knitted his brows. He turned back to look at his subordinates gathered on the deck, feeling a bit uncertain.
Although before setting off, he had obtained a large amount of information on the Frestech Chamber of Commerce, there were few pieces of information that talked about the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards.
The only thing that showed the battle strength of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards was when they made a move against the nobles of the Stantine Duchy.
Because there wasn’t enough information, Chalon didn’t know the situation.
From the result, the guards of the Stantine Duchy’s nobles were unable to resist the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards, allowing them the absolute rights to control the Stantine Duchy.
But to Chalon, this result didn’t show anything.
Because the nobles of the Stantine Duchy were only bumpkins to Chalon. The guards of these nobles were just fellows that were a bit stronger than normal people, without any training or full sets of equipment. How could there be any battle strength?
So based on this, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards being able to crush the Stantine Duchy nobles didn’t show any battle strength. It just showed that they could be considered a normal army.
After thinking about it, Chalon shook his head.
“Forget it, no matter how strong they are, they are just the guards of a small company. They can’t be that strong.”
Although Chalon had been cautious in front of Duke Windsor before, advising Duke Windsor to be more serious about the Frestech Chamber of Commerce, he didn’t actually really put the Frestech Chamber of Commerce in his eyes.
In the end, the Frestech Chamber of Commerce was only a small company in this small duchy, how could they be as powerful as the subordinates of the Lord Governor of the Candra Empire’s southern province.
Chalon looked at Duke Windsor’s guards covered in full armour with sharp weapons and he revealed a faint smile.
The Lord Duke had given him three thousand of his most elite subordinates and under his direction, not to mention a small Frestech Chamber of Commerce, he could easily sweep through the entire Stantine Duchy.
The most important thing was that he was very certain the Frestech Chamber of Commerce wouldn’t really dare to make a move against him.
The matter of Count Dole, although the Frestech Chamber of Commerce had made a move, they didn’t kill a single one of the duchess’ subordinates. It meant that the Frestech Chamber of Commerce had some scruples in their hearts.
“Hei, seeing all the elites that I brought, if that chairman Xu of the Frestech Chamber of Commerce is smart, his only choice is to obediently listen to me.”
The ten ships that carried Chalon and the three thousand elite soldiers of Duke Windsor gradually approached the shore with the sea breeze.
This was a small port under Count Andre’s control and it was very remote, so the arrival of these ten ships didn’t attract any attention.
Chalon brought his three thousand elite troops off the ship and immediately set off.
According to the plan, he would enter Count Dole’s private manor with the three thousand elite troops first and after seizing it, they would settle there and slowly negotiate with the Frestech Chamber of Commerce.
However, as soon as they came out of the harbour by the cliff, they met a group of around three hundred people.
Seeing that this group acted like soldiers, only wearing simple armour with strange items in their hands, Chalon turned to Count Andre and asked, “Who are these fellows?”
Count Andre was a bit nervous as he replied in a low voice, “They are the subordinates of a nearby noble. That’s strange, why did they come here today? Did they receive some information?”
“It’s not the Frestech Chamber of Commerce’s guards……” Chalon was a bit disappointed. He turned and gave a nod to the leader of the troops beside him, “Take care of them all, don’t leave a single one.”
Hearing Chalon’s orders, Count Andre was shocked.
“Lord Chalon, you……”
Before he could finish, the troop leader beside Chalon waved his hand to give the signal to attack.
Chalon had brought the elite troops of Duke Windsor, so they were well trained. Once they received the order, there were five hundred people who raised the bows in their hands and sent a rain of arrows at the three hundred people.
