Mei Li gulped. She tried to escape but it was pointless. Ryn would not let her go. She would not leave her alone until she got what she wanted. And what she wanted was the answer.

To Ryn, it was a straight-forward question and answer, but to Mei Li, it was hard to open her mouth. She has given her words and she did not want to go against them.

”Mei Li?” Ryn narrowed her eyes suspiciously. It seemed like Mei Li still refused to reveal who the mysterious employer of hers. Why? Ryn did not understand at all. Why was it so hard to just tell her bluntly who booked her for days? Was it so hard?

Mei Li tried to run her eyes from looking straight into Ryn's eyes. She was getting powerless but she held herself. Why? Why was she being treated like this? This was not her idea at all. She did not want this. She wanted to explain to Ryn so desperately but... but...

”Is this involving a confidential project? Something with the army?” Ryn guessed. She did not know what to expect when Mei Li refused to speak.

”No... no...no-no-no,” Mei Li said quickly, shaking her head. Why would Ryn think that? How could her mind even go that way? So... out of the line. She, as Ryn's manager, would not dare to accept any project from those people without receiving Ryn's consent first.

”Then?”

Mei Li sighed. This was getting harder and harder to stay put. To stay calm.

”Mei Li, remember back what you promised me when you asked me to sign the contract?” Ryn asked quietly.

Mei Li gulped. She remembered. When she went to seek Ryn and asked her to help by making a comeback, she promised to discuss all the projects before she signed the contract. Mei Li was hoping with Ryn's help, it could help with her position in the agency. With Ryn under her wing, she could even help her other models to get better job options. And Ryn even did not mind sharing her knowledge with the models but who could be the second Ryn? Impossible to be like her.

And... she did not want this to be the reason for Ryn to break their contract.

”Mei Li?”

”It's Mika,” Mei Li said finally. She has lost completely. Besides, she coaxed herself, Mika was Ryn's best friend so it would be alright. Ryn would understand why Mika was doing it if she thought about it carefully.

”She's too rigid and serious and I want to inject some funs in it, right, baby?” Mika looked at her fiance for support and Jason nodded. They went to meet Mei Li a week before to discuss this 'surprise'. Imagine how shocked Mei Li was to receive them because they even made a proper appointment to meet her. She thought she was meeting a client but it turned out to be the two of them.

”What? Mika?” Ryn was shocked when she heard her best friend's name was mentioned as the culprit.

Mei Li nodded. It was just wasting of time trying to hide from Ryn. Might as well being truthful. It made her hed lightened as well. No more stress of keeping this as a secret from the model in front of her.

Ryn took a deep breath to calm herself. She could not believe this. What was with the secrecy? Why was this being hidden? Couldn't they just say it clearly that Ryn, I want to book you for several days. Please clear your schedule for me? And Ryn might even agree to it.

Has Mika forgotten how full her schedule before just to keep these coming months almost empty just for her wedding? How could she do this to her?

”I'll leave you time to calm down,” Mei Li said as she stood up and went to the door. She glanced at the quiet Ryn and sighed. She knew it could hurt Ryn but what else could she do. She knew who she was and her background. And she knew who Mika and Jason were. They came from a super-duper rich family while she came from an ordinary family. Despite Mika being so playful when she was with Ryn but it would be stupid to forget her real identity. Mei Li sighed and closed the door. She gave Ryn some privacy to think this over.
