Chapter 504 - What went wrong in their relationship? (2/2)

”Yes?” Ryn wiggled her toes and decided she needed to trim the nails by today.

”I was wondering if you want to join a party with the guys. I mean, I knew you're busy with work and things but the guys were wanting to see you tonight.”

Ryn frowned. A party with the guys? Was she even close to them for them to invite her along for the party?

Something smelled fishy here.

”You know that we are going to start our internship after the break so this is sort of celebration thing for them to...”

”I understand,” Ryn said with a sigh. Maybe her way of thinking was different than the others as she was already working even when she was in school. And her upbringing too shaped the way she was thinking.

She did not understand the excitement of doing internship when she was already earning money since young. Well, even if she did not understand, she would support them, though.

”What time will the party be?” She asked. She did not want to waste more time as she still has another call to make and knowing that person, she would need hours just to make that person better.

He smiled widely when he heard her question. He guessed she agreed to his invitation. And later he had to call all his friends just to make the plan a reality.

”Around 8? I will pick you up?”

”Yeah, sure.”

”We'll have dinner before that? Is it okay for you?” He tried to push his luck, praying hard that she would agree.

She did not answer right away. It made him almost regret for asking it. Why was he being so greedy when she already agreed with the party?

She sighed. The weirdness she felt earlier came back. Maybe there was no party in the first place.

”Harry,” she called his name.

”Yes?”

”There is no party... isn't it?” She asked slowly.

He gulped loudly that she could even hear it clear from the other side of the phone. She sighed heavily, rubbing her temple.

”I have a boyfriend already, Harry, and I love him,” she said slowly and carefully.

He did not reply.

”Was it my fault for pulling you into the agency?” She asked. Should she regret for in a way making him a model and ended up making him having the wrong idea of her?

”No,” he said quickly.

”Then? I don't want to make you misunderstand me, Harry. You are my friend and even my colleague. I don't want us to have this awkwardness between us,” she said with a sigh.

”I'm sorry,” his heart was breaking apart with her ruthless rejection of his feeling but he never blamed her. She was innocent in this.

”So I guess the party is cancelled?” She asked slowly.

”Hmm...”

”I... maybe just lunch but with Mei Li? My treat?” She did not want to hurt him more and tried to treat him as an apology. But she wanted Mei Li as their chaperone so they would not create any rumour.

She heard his heavy sigh before he mumbled his agreement. They set the time and place and this time, he would not pick her up.. They would meet at the restaurant instead and with Mei Li in tow.
