72 Rufus and Irene. (2/2)

But then the old man saw something that shocked him. The head that lay near the body was none other than Duke Edwin's!

Edwin Abilon, one of the 4 Dukes in the entire Silverbird Kingdom, had died?! How would he even begin to explain this to his Majesty?!

The old man with red hair had a conflicted expression on his face. He was the man who Emperor Luthien had sent to assist Duke Edwin.

However, he now stood before the Duke's dead body. The mission had not even started yet, but he had already failed.

No matter where he looked, the only life he saw was the three teenagers in front of him. All of them looked haggard, but their eyes glowed with a cold glint that the old man did not miss.

He made his way towards them when the girl behind him had recovered a bit. Though her face still looked a bit pale.

Her icy expression did not lose one bit to Raven when she was approaching the trio.

Both groups just kept staring at each other when Ozul decided to speak up as he just wanted to leave this place.

”I don't have all the time in this world...What do you want?”

The armor-wearing Mage was again surprised to see the kid talk to him with such a cold tone. He was about to reply when;

”Watch your tone! You...”

The girl with red hair did not like Ozul's way of talking, but just as she was yelling, the old man gave her the eye to shut her up. The girl just snorted and looked away.

”Please excuse her manners. I'm the Chief Leader of the Silver Knights squad, Rufus.”

The old man kindly introduced himself as Rufus. He expected some kind of reaction from the teenagers in front of him, but he was left disappointed. There was no reaction whatsoever to his words.

This attitude made the girl grit her teeth, but just then, Rufus again started talking;

”This girl behind me is my apprentice and also my granddaughter, Irene. She just respects and loves me too much, so I hope you can forgive her.”

Ozul just kept coldly looking at Rufus and Irene. He knew that this Rufus was an observer. He had already noticed that they were not some random teenagers.

Well, it wasn't hard for Rufus to make out the situation. In the massive battle that had occurred here, only three teenagers survived—anyone would be suspicious of the group.

Moreover, Rufus had all of his attention on Ozul, unlike Irene, who darted her eyes between Raven and Blaze.

Rufus had noticed the kid in the back had the most injuries, but he did not even exude a bit of Mana! Him, a Rank-8 Mage, cannot sense the Mana waves from a teenage boy—it was truly embarrassing.

Also, Rufus was sure that this kid was not an average human because surviving in a battle where even a Rank-8 Mage had died was close to impossible for a regular peasant.

”May I ask your names?”

Rufus asked, trying to break the ice. He was in a tough position since the teenagers around him all had icy cold expressions.
