Chapter 465: 465, [Background Story of “Heavenly Dust”] (Thanks to “Phantom Feather” for the 100k reward)
By the creek behind the mountain, Lu Xun and the Junior Priest fell into a long silence.
Just as the Junior Priest had said, he was the key to open the road towards Heavenly Dust. Even though his hands weren’t stained with any blood, those who were killed by the foreign race were, more or less, connected to him.
They stood on different grounds, and hence could not arrive at a solution through discussion.
The Junior Priest looked at his reflection in the stream, the extraordinary fireflies from the back mountain circled around like lanterns. After a while, he was the first to break the silence, saying:
“I too looked good like you when I was not this old.”
“I don’t believe that.” Responded a certain man with [Charisma 10], implying that he thinks you’re boasting.
“There may be some truth to it.” The Junior Priest dismissed the comment.
Lu Xun asked himself, if he were to age like this before even reaching his twenties, talking so much that it would leave him coughing half to death, he definitely wouldn’t be as cool about it.
Lu Xun looked at the Junior Priest and asked, “Can you tell me about your world?”
The Junior Priest, hunching his back, asked, “What do you want to know?”
“Anything, as long as you’re willing to talk about it.” Lu Xun was not selective when it came to gathering information.
“Our world is governed by a deity,” The Junior Priest began, defining the nature of the foreign race’s world with his first statement.
“The deity grants us everything, gives us strength. And in return, we wage wars in their stead.” In just one sentence, the Junior Priest explained the reason behind the foreign invasion to Lu Xun.
——This is the intention of those three narrow eyes!
The three narrow eyes are the deity of the foreign race and the Blood Covenant probably originates from it.
“This kind of feels like [Main God Space].” Lu Xun thought to himself.
If he understood it this way, everything would seem much simpler.
The foreign race can be seen as invaders and destroyers dispatched by the deity.
Their mission is to destroy this world, not to occupy it.
Lu Xun wasn’t sure why, but he surmised the issue lay with those three narrow eyes.
To humans, invasion means conquest, but to a higher being like a deity, perhaps they receive more benefits by destroying the world?
“Like…the Power of Heavenly Path?” Lu Xun pondered in his heart.
Actually, he wasn’t entirely sure about this. If he equates the three narrow eyes with the Heavenly Path, why hasn’t the Heavenly Path itself shown any sign of action when the deity of the foreign race has?
“Wait!” Lu Xun suddenly came to a realization.
He recalled, during the player’s public beta, when the world experienced anomalies due to the massive influx of players, the old man called it —[Heavenly Dao Collapse]!
Realising this, he felt excitement, his heart started beating faster.
“Is it like this? Just as I thought?” Lu Xun’s expression was complicated.
In fact, his dilemma was largely because he had nearly come to believe that the Heavenly Dust Continent was the real world.
If he still considered this as a game, then the game’s big story is relatively simple.
Add to it an external invasion aiming to destroy the world, needs the help of players – brave young man, go and make miracles happen!
If it were a simple game, it probably would have started by telling you these game backgrounds.
After Lu Xun had absorbed and processed this information, he probably understood why the old man wanted him to take the Junior Priest for a walk, to see more.
It was to let him witness more of the beauty of the Heavenly Dust Continent.
Even though this could not shake his spirit, even a tiny piece of information leaked out would benefit Lu Xun or the entire Heavenly Dust.
Time passed moment by moment, and it was almost midnight.
At the moment, they had wandered to the jujube tree behind the mountain.
It wasn’t the season for jujubes to ripen, so there were no fruits on the tree.
Lots of jujubes were indeed stored in Lu Xun’s storage ring, which he got earlier, but he did not take them out for the Junior Priest to eat.
Given his condition, how could he chew on jujubes?
The Junior Priest sitting under the tree suddenly said, “Someone is looking for me.”
