Chapter 39 (1/2)

Very Tacky

Jin Yue replied, “He did, but left shortly.”

Cheng Lang said, “That’s in line with his style.”

Xing Shu could tell that Cheng Lang’s tone had changed a lot; he seemed to have a good relationship with Jin Mo. Even his tone of voice toward Jin Yue had become much gentler. They were very familiar with each other, and it was a bubble that outsiders could not intrude on.

Xing Shu left tactfully. The butler—Liu Song—was waiting downstairs. When he saw Xing Shu, he greeted her with a smile, “Miss Xing Shu, are you feeling better?”

Xing Shu nodded and saw a huge bookshelf—filled with all kinds of books—in front of the window wall on the first floor. Liu Song was afraid that Xing Shu would be bored. With the bandages on her hands, it was inconvenient for her to read even if she wanted to.

“Miss Xing Shu, do you want to watch a movie?” Liu Song asked. Xing Shu did not refuse, but she realized that Liu Song had chosen a movie with a scientific research theme. She invariably thought of Jin Yue again.

Xing Shu had been in the capital for more than 10 years. Not only did she not blend in with the Xing family, but she also did not blend in with Beijing’s upper-class social circle. Xing Shu rarely attended the functions favored by those young masters and young ladies. She had been too busy with her studies and also, she hated those brown-nosing functions. She had only attended once and heard Jin Yue’s name.

Eight out of 10 of the young masters of the Beijing social circle liked Jin Yue. Her academic performance had always been top-notch. She did not take the National College Entrance Examination like Xing Shu; she had already been accepted by colleges abroad when she was still in the international school. Her faculty advisors in college were also very impressive. Although Jin Yue was very pretty, no one dared to call her a wallflower.

The most outstanding man in the Beijing social circle was Cheng Lang. He had displayed astonishing business acumen since he was young, and had gained Old Master Cheng’s trust to manage the family business. Old Master Cheng did not hide his partiality to Cheng Lang, and Cheng Lang did not let him down. The word “genius” was inadequate to describe Cheng Lang.

“Miss Xing Shu, the flowers in the garden are blooming well. If you feel that the movie is boring, you can go out and take a look,” Liu Song suggested.

Xing Shu smiled. For some reason, she felt that this butler’s attitude towards her was a little too good. “I studied finance. I don’t understand things like scientific research. It’s too profound.” Finance revolved around money—very tacky.

Liu Song brought the dessert over. “It’s okay. As long as Sir likes it, it doesn’t matter what Miss Xing Shu does.”
