Chapter 36 (1/2)

Young Uncle, Don’t You Want Me?

“It’s hot…” Xing Shu muttered. She frowned and leaned towards the cooling object. Cheng Lang helped Xing Shu up and applied the ice pack to her face. Xing Shu’s brows relaxed and she leaned into his arms peacefully.

The doctor heaved a sigh of relief and continued to bandage the wound on Xing Shu’s leg. Then, he gave her another injection. “She’ll be fine after a nap. Don’t worry, Sir. However, this lady has a weak constitution. You need to be more mindful.”

Cheng Lang put down the ice pack and wiped the sweat on Xing Shu’s forehead with a handkerchief. When Jian Yaochuan saw this upon his return after sending the doctor off, he did not know what to make of it.

So, did he or did he not care about Miss Xing Shu? If he did not care, why did he immediately go to Cheng Gang’s place in the middle of the night when he heard that something had happened to Miss Xing Shu? If he cared, why did he deny it when Miss Xing Shu asked if he had come specially over?

Jian Yaochuan had been with Cheng Lang for many years and knew him well. He knew Cheng Lang’s views of relationships were that they were a burden. He believed that he needed to be unshackled by relationships in order to be clear-headed—a conclusion Cheng Lang came to after years of corporate warfare. That was his secret to decisive strikes and sweeping victories.

However, Miss Xing Shu was different. She was a force of nature that crashed into Cheng Lang’s world. She burned like a fire, melting Cheng Lang’s iciness with her passion. When “Buddha on Earth” meets a vixen, it’s hard to say who will prevail…

Jian Yaochuan smiled as the cheeky thoughts ran through his mind. “President, the overseas video conference…” Before he could finish speaking, Xing Shu—who was in Cheng Lang’s arms—woke up. Her throat hurt and she was unable to speak.

Cheng Lang shot a look at Jian Yaochuan, signaling him to be quiet. Then, he picked up the glass of water by the side and brought it to Xing Shu’s mouth. Xing Shu took a few sips and surveyed her surroundings—she knew they were in Manor No. 1. Her body softened and she sank into Cheng Lang’s arms. “Young Uncle, are my fingers broken?” Her entire body was in so much pain; she could no longer tell where it hurt more.

“I was almost…” Xing Shu’s voice trembled. Only then did she start to feel afraid. She was afraid of being raped by Cheng Gang’s bodyguards; afraid that Cheng Gang would kill her there and then. She looked down at her bandaged hands. Looking at the layers and layers of bandage on her hands, she could no longer hold back her tears; and they flowed like a broken tap. She could not even move her fingers.

Was she crippled?

Panic seized Xing Shu. Her tears dampened the front of Cheng Lang’s shirt.
