9 A Troublesome Secre (1/2)

Lyle sat back against the wall, watching Alina pace the room. ”What did he mean by Sophie being ”The woman of nature.” I have no connection to nature and neither do you,” She looked at Lyle, stopping her pacing. Lyle had a hesitant look. ”Do you?” Alina asked seeing his face and sitting down next to him.

”I.... goodness how do I say this, I do. My entire family did,” Lyle replied, guilt in his voice.

”You never bothered to tell me this?! This would've been nice to know before we got stuck in a jail cell, the best place to tell me a secret about your entire family!” Alina exclaimed, ”Care to explain more or do you want to keep more secrets!”

”Honey, please calm down. If you do, I will explain everything,” Lyle said grabbing her hand.

”I'll calm down, but please, tell me everything,” She replied.

”I will tell you everything there is to know about me and my family,” Lyle said. ”My entire family tree is comprised of nymphs. I am a nymph as well. Nymphs have strong connections to nature, and nature magic. Our DNA is similar to humans but the only thing that tells us apart from them is our eyes. They're always some unnatural color, which explains mine”

”What does any of this have to do with Sophie?! And why keep such a secret from me?!”

”I should've told you when she was born. I wasn't sure if she had the traits or not, but her eyes, her bright yellow eyes. Those should've told me. I just dismissed it and went along with life. But now, with this ”prophecy”, everything I left behind, everything I've ignored, is coming back. The reason I kept this from you was that I didn't want you to see me any different.”

”Sophie's part nymph.... or full?”

”Full. Have you ever wondered why animals feel so calm around her, how she always wants to be outdoors, no matter what the weather was like? She is full nymph, and I don't understand how...” Lyle replied.

”I don't either, but thank you for telling me all of this. I just wish I knew sooner,” said Alina laying her head on his shoulder, ” I hope she's okay.”

”She is, I know it. She's out there somewhere, looking for us. I just hope Kasai hasn't found her yet,” Lyle said back, running his fingers through Alina's hair.

”And I hope so as well. Nathan is probably with her. He'll protect her,” Akila said walking over to the sitting couple.

”I would say the other way around. Sophie's been training for years. Now, it'll all come in handy for now there is a reason for all her practice,” Alina replied, holding out her hand for Akila to take.

”She needs to practice on how to control her anger, and maybe not be as predictable,” said Kasai, materializing in the room.
