Chapter 71: Taste of the Law

The dragon’s dark red eyes gleamed at his master’s command. Her word was enough. In one swift moment, Adrian’s body was swept away to the hall by an invisible force.

“..…!”

Bang! The room door slammed shut in his face. Black smoke crept from the door, emanating a faint threat, but it only lasted for a moment.

“…Hmm, this is another unexpected discovery.” Adrian stood in the deserted corridor and arranged his thoughts. There must be a reason why the imprint was not yet complete, he pondered. “…Let’s dig deeper a little more.”

Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. It was better to take away the imprint before it was complete.

Beep. Beep. The clock rang again, but was ignored once again.

It has already been six days since they arrived in Battuanu and the train was still out of service. According to the morning paper, the railroad had been casted with a powerful mystifying spell, which caused the train to be stuck circling the same railroad track.

Such powerful magic had been practiced over the entire continent. However, there were only very few wizards who could undo the spell.

A couple of veteran wizards resided in Laurent, one of whom was Eleonora Asil and the other, the current minister of magic. But it was already presumed that the most infamous witch would be not of help.

“Where the hell is the minister?” The cafeteria staff, who had been asked the same question every day for six days, shrugged.

“I don’t know. He says he’s on a long vacation. I’ve heard they’ve lost contact. And in fact… I heard there’s another reason why this work lasts so long.”

Park Noah sipped her cocoa drink and raised her head, “Why?”

“I heard it from the security guard. They said they only wanted to solve it inside the investigation security office. But it was more serious than I thought. That’s why he asked the magic department for cooperation three days ago. It’s already been five days since the rail network was paralyzed.”

Park Noah then remembered her phone call with Kyle Leonard. She had heard some people speaking in the background that someone in the magic department had been found in contact with Yulem. Oh, my God, how far does it get?

“As a matter of fact, I’d like it to be suspended a few more days. The business is going well because of the crowded customers.”

The staff was right. By the time Park Noah arrived on her first day, there were fewer than ten diners here, but now there seemed to be more than thirty. The sudden suspension of railway services forced all travelers to rush to the ferry, making it difficult to acquire tickets now.

She tried to contact Kyle Leonard again to check whether or not he was on his way, but she repeatedly failed to make a call. In the end, she was stuck in a situation where she couldn’t do anything.

To make matters worse, her condition had become worse every passing day. But she couldn’t put the blame on the train solely. It was obvious that her body weakened whenever Muell used a little magic trick.
