Xiu Mei instantly moved closer to pass a glass of water and pat his back. Taking a breath he said, ”I-I'm extremely sorry for what I've done to you. Though I don't know what exactly happened when you left the country, one thing is sure that it was something horrible that my Alice is lost forever”
Xiu Mei saw him folding his hands in front of her, ”My actions laid down the path of destruction. Either I should have not adopted you, and if I did then I should be by your side when Kong Da wronged you. I'm sorry….”
Xiu Mei was stunned by his actions. He not only apologized to her but folded his hands, something that the proud General Kong Zhi would never do.
Looking at her cold emotionless face his heart hurts more than the physical wounds. He knows what he had done to her. Taking a decision to adopt a child is easy but fulfilling the responsibilities that come along is difficult.
It was his own decision to adopt her, she never asks for it; so it was his duty to keep up with the decision he made. Just by putting the will in the name of the adopted child does not mean he was discharged off of his duties.
”Alice….” He called her warily when she got up to stand near the window, watching the kids play football in the field. Her hands unconsciously went to hug the curtains as if looking for support.
”No need to apologize, you don't owe me one,” She said curtly without turning to look at the man sitting on the bed. ”I know the limitations of our relationship. No matter what, I'll never be your real daughter”
