Chapter 374 - The Giving of a Prescription (1/2)
After witnessing with his own eyes the efficacy of the Pulse-warming and Heart-nourishing Soup, the old man, who had been pursuing traditional Chinese medicine all his life, was full of curiosity about the prescription. However, the magical prescription was usually kept secret, so he was too shy to ask Qin Haodong about it.
To his surprise, Qin Haodong took the initiative to put the prescription in front of him. For a moment he could not believe what he saw or think of anything else.
“This is for you!”
Qin Haodong waved and handed the prescription to Hua Zi’an.
“Are you serious? Are you joking?”
Hua Zi’an’s hand began to shake as he held the prescription. He was well aware of the value of the prescription. In the eyes of some people, it was priceless.
“Of course I’m serious. Prescriptions are used to treat people. I give it to you to make the most of it.”
“Great, that’s really great!”
Hua Zi’an held the prescription in his hand, excited beyond measure.
“Senior Hua, I give you the prescription, but don’t give it to others,” Qin Haodong said. “I don’t mean to keep it secret, but it’s a very special prescription that must be made by someone who knows the secrets of traditional Chinese medicine.”
“For example, the medicine that the nurse boiled out today will not only not cure, but harm. In addition, there is a point to note, the Pulse-warming and Heart-nourishing Soup must be boiled when a patient need it. If the soup gets cold, it won’t work. That means it’s only valid for less than an hour.”
“Oh! I got it.”
Although the prescription had many requirements when it was made, it worked well. So Hua Zi’an was still very excited, staring unblinkingly at the A4 paper as if he wanted to engrave the prescription in his mind.
Just then, Qin Haodong’s phone rang. It was Nalan Wuxia. He knew that Nalan Wuxia would tell him about today’s case. Ignoring Hua Zi’an, who was on the verge of madness, he answered the phone and stepped aside.
When the phone went through, Nalan Wuxia said, “Thanks. Feng Zixiong would have died today if it hadn’t been for you.”
“I’m a doctor, so never mind.” Then Qin Haodong asked, “What happened today? How could he be so badly hurt? Why did you send it to Guangren Hospital instead of Jiangnan Hospital with better medical conditions?”
Nalan Wuxia replied, “Here’s the thing. According to the plan we made, all the police in our station began to search suspects, and the focus was to search Taoist priests, sorcerers, witches and people like them.”
“According to the masses, a period of time ago an old Taoist suddenly went to a community not far from Guangren Hospital. The old Taoist rented a house, but his behavior was very strange and he seldom went out during the week.”
“After getting the news, Feng Zixiong felt that the old Taoist was very suspicious, so he went to investigate with another policeman. Unexpectedly, he was attacked by the old Taoist as soon as he opened the door. The old Taoist was so good that he stuck a knife in Feng Zixiong’s chest and ran away.”
“Feng Zixiong was seriously injured and the scene of the crime was closest to Guangren Hospital. It was urgent and he was sent there!”
“I see!” Qin Haodong frowned, his brain racing. When a series of murders occurred, such an old Taoist suddenly appeared. His suspicion was not small.
“What’s that old Taoist like? Does he have any distinguishing features?”
“Because of his speed, our people didn’t see him clearly. They only knew that he looked very old. He should be 60 or 70 years old and wearing a long robe.”
Qin Haodong said, “Looks like he’s a warrior, too. Tell your men that if they find him again, don’t act rashly. Let’s go and see.”
“Well! I have given the order!” Nalan Wuxia said, “Now the old Taoist’s suspicion is very strong, but it is not clear that he is the murderer. Maybe the killer is someone else. How are things going with you? Anything suspicious?”
Qin Haodong replied, “I looked into the records in Guangren Hospital’s archives this morning. More than a dozen doctors have visited the archives in the last month, and there is no way to narrow that down.”
“We’re halfway through three days, and we need to hurry, or someone might get killed again,” Nalan Wuxia said. “By the way, today the experts from the province conducted another autopsy on the body. They have come to a new conclusion— from the cut marks on the body, the murderer must have been left-handed.”
“The murderer is left-handed!” Qin Haodong thought of something and said, “It’s a valuable clue. With it, I can quickly narrow it down. Whoever is left-handed has the most suspicion.”
Nalan Wuxia said, “You have to be careful. If anything happens, contact us.”
“Don’t worry about my safety.”
Qin Haodong said and hung up.
As soon as he put the phone away, Hua Zi’an ran over, took the prescription for the Pulse-warming and Heart-nourishing Soup, and asked all his questions.
Qin Haodong had nothing but respect for the old man who loved traditional Chinese medicine, so he answered Hua Zi’an’s questions without reservation.
Soon, Hua Zi’an thought he had done with his research, ran into the pharmacy with the prescription, and started testing, leaving the traditional Chinese medicine clinic to Qin Haodong.
Qin Haodong became the visiting doctor, thinking about how to sift through the doctor information in the archives and seeing the patients who came in every now and then.
However, he didn’t come up with a good idea until after work. If he went from room to room to see if the doctors were left-handed, others would suspect him. This method could even spook the murderer, so it was not feasible.
It was time to go home, and the hospital had stopped registering, while Hua Zi’an was still in the pharmacy, showing no sign of coming out.
Qin Haodong didn’t want to disturb him. He just changed his clothes and left. But then a woman came in from outside.
The woman was in her 30s, with delicate features, and she was wearing a close-fitting pair of jeans and a T-shirt, which showed off her perfect curves.
The woman came in, took one look at Qin Haodong, smiled and said, “Doctor Tang, I’d like to buy you dinner tonight, can I?”
“You want to buy me dinner?”
Qin Haodong looked at the woman again, feeling vaguely familiar, but he didn’t remember seeing her.
