The yamen's main hall was not wide and its interior was simple. In front of it was a table and chair for the old master, while the yamen runners stood on both sides of the hall.
After a while, a man in a red official uniform came out. He looked to be about forty years of age, and his figure was slightly plump. Behind him was a man dressed in the attire of a Grand Master.
Wang Hai, who was dressed in a county magistrate's uniform, walked to the back of the table. He waved his two arms and coughed as he announced, ”Rising Hall!”
The yamen runners on both sides pounded the sticks in their hands as they shouted in a low voice.
Wang Su and Xu Lan'er couldn't help but shiver.
Jin Weiwei knelt on the left side of the court with a calm expression. Not only was she not afraid, she even had a trace of curiosity on her face.
Wang Hai sat down and slapped the wood. ”Who are you kneeling on?”
Jin Weiwei calmly kowtowed, ”This humble girl, Jin Weiwei, is the shopkeeper for the Golden Stick.”
Hearing Jin Weiwei's voice, Wang Su and Xu Lan'er also hurriedly spoke up.
”Little Wang Su!”
”The commoner is Xu Lan'er!”
After letting out a long yawn, Wang Hai said with a bit of sleepiness, ”Which one of you tell me the truth?”
As the victim, Jin Weiwei had yet to speak, but Wang Susu quickly opened her mouth and complained, ”Master Qingtian, you have to help me. An hour ago, I left this shop and helped me replenish my wife's body, but I didn't expect her to faint after eating the mutton. I suspected that there was something wrong with the mutton, so I pushed Madam to come and confront her.
Wang Su's face looked even more aggrieved as she spoke. He stretched out his arms with tears in his eyes, ”Master, look at my hands. They've been beaten to such a state by this Jin guy.”
Wang Su's hands were slightly swollen at first, but as time passed, her face swelled up to the size of a steamed bun.
It was shocking.
Wang Hai made two tsk-tsk sounds as he cast a sidelong glance at Jin Weiwei. ”Is what he said true?”
Jin Weiwei really did not expect Wang Susu to jump over the wall and actually dare to invert black and white above the court. Instead, she gave her a bite back.
Her expression gradually turned cold. She first kowtowed before narrating everything that had happened today in detail.
The victim with the surname Jin said that the two people beside her had colluded to frame her as having poisoned her flesh in an attempt to ruin her and her butcher's shop's reputation. Those two people also repeatedly said that they had only gone over to interrogate them, but did not expect Jin Weiwei to beat them up without saying a word.
The county magistrate seemed to be troubled.
”Tsk tsk, each of you have your own words. You've really made things difficult for me …” Wang Hai twirled his moustache. ”Do you have a witness who can prove that what you said is true?”
Jin Weiwei suddenly thought of the onlookers. Wasn't this the best witness?
She was about to speak when a woman's voice cut her off.
”Yes, yes!” Xu Lan'er hurriedly shouted, ”This humble woman is a witness. This humble woman saw it with her own eyes. Not only did she not listen to my husband's question, she even beat him up.”
Xu Lan'er's words were resolute and decisive. Following that, she wiped away her tears and wailed, ”Pity, my husband only wants justice for my wife.”
