1809 Sky-Breaking Halberd (1/2)
The raggedy old man stared at Qingfeng Li with a hint of approval flashed briefly in his eyes. So quickly was it gone that on one had even noticed it, not even Qingfeng Li. This old man was far too powerful, and too mysterious, for anyone to sense his energy.
Smiling, the raggedy old man spoke, ”You're here to buy weapons, right?”
Qingfeng Li nodded.
”Yes,” he said, ”I wish to buy a weapon. The demonic beast riot waves are coming, and I need a suitable weapon.”
The raggedy old man nodded.
”Wait a minute,” he said, ”I'll be right back.”
The raggedy old man stood up. Taking a step forward, he disappeared on the spot and appeared in the room at the back of the store. Inside, there was a hidden room, armed with many security measures. No one else could enter.
A moment later, the old man returned with a large halberd. The weapon was three meters long. It was black all over, but the material was difficult to discern. It seemed to have been forged from Black Crystal Steel, but at the same time, it resembled something forged from meteor stone.
The halberd's handle was etched with all kinds of patterns, depicting beasts, plants, mountains, rivers, skies, clouds, and thunder. The head of the weapon was made in three segments, with two extremely sharp cutting edges.
The raggedy old man handed the halberd to Qingfeng Li. ”This is the Sky-Breaking Halberd,” he said. ”It's the most prized treasure in this store. Five thousand years, it's been, since it was last used… Now, I give it to you, free of charge. I hope you can use it to its full potential.”
Reaching out with his right hand, Qingfeng Li grasped the Sky-Breaking Halberd. Just as he took into his own hand, he felt a powerful force. Like a mountain, the halberd felt extremely heavy in his hand, so much so that his body nearly gave out under the weight. He fumbled to remain upright.
Qingfeng Li held the Sky-Breaking Halberd in both hands. Using every ounce of his strength, he activated his Mortal Purgatory Body, along with the Gold Dao Seed and the power of the Dragon Bone. Even then, he just barely managed to hold the Sky-Breaking Halberd up.
Qingfeng Li wore an expression of surprise, his eyes filled with disbelief. This Sky-Breaking Halberd was far too heavy. With Qingfeng Li's current strength, he could smash through even a million-pound mountain. But now, he struggled to even keep a hold of this Sky-Breaking Halberd.
By his calculations, Qingfeng Li guessed that the Sky-Breaking Halberd weighed at least two million pounds. This was an absurd number, the equivalent of the weight of several mountains put together.
Only someone with a physique as strong as Qingfeng Li's could hold such a weapon. If it were another in his place, they wouldn't even be able to lift the halberd.
Most importantly, the Sky-Breaking Halberd appeared very inconspicuous. At a glance, it looked just like a normal halberd. No one would guess that it would be so heavy. It could definitely break bones if it hit a person, and a heavy blow might even reduce them to mincemeat.
The raggedy shopkeeper waved at him, saying, ”You can leave. I hope that, in your hands, the Sky-Breaking Halberd can be used to its full power. One day, you will be proud of owning such a weapon.”
Qingfeng Li nodded. Bowing, he thanked the raggedy old man, then turned and left the store with his friends.
Beside him, Ya Yun asked, ”Qingfeng Li, why didn't you give him some vitality stones in exchange?”
Shaking his head, Qingfeng Li replied, ”Lady Ya Yun, this is what you don't understand. That Senior just now is a reclusive top-tier master. He wouldn't care about any wealth, vitality stones or elixirs. He only wanted to find someone he liked, and I just happened to have been picked.”
