107 Know the Truth 2 (1/2)
However, as her eyes fell on the final name of the suspect, she can't believe her eyes.
”Nyelle? It can't be! Vince...”
Yve cried as she held Vince's hands.
”Do it again! Something might have went wrong with the investigation.”
Vince knew she would act like this but she needs to know that it's the truth. Vince played the video footage. As Yve watches the video of her best friend's betrayal, tears continue to fall down from her eyes.
The laptop's screen turned black which indicated that the video is already over but still Vince didn't hear anything from Yve except her almost silent sobs. Vince couldn't take the pain anymore and decided to stand up and hugged Yve.
Because of his gesture, Yve's cries became louder as she said,
”But... she's .... my... best friend.... How can... she.... do this.. to... me?”
”I don't really know the full details. What I know are the things that you read on the papers and saw on the video.” Vince said as hushed his Queen in his embrace.
”Can I talk to her?” Yve asked.
Vince touched her chin to see her face and asked, ”Will you be fine if you see her?”
Yve's eyes look down and answered, ”I'm not sure but at least I will have the chance to ask these things to her in person. Maybe she has a valid reason for doing this.”
Vince sighed but based on how Yve looks right now, he wasn't sure if he can see his Queen in a miserable state.
”Then look into my eyes and say that you can handle everything that Nyelle might say.”
Yve was confused for a moment and stared at Vince's eyes. Right then, he knew he will not be able to hide anything from Yve. Thus, on his knees in front of her, making Yve look down at him. She silently look at him while waiting for his explanation.
”I think that there might be someone else behind Nyelle. Like you, there might a valid reason behind her betrayal so I sent some of my people to investigate.”
”You sent some spies? Since when?”
”After I read this report. I hate to believe all of these so I wanted to continue investigating.”
”So?”
”I was right. She will meet the mastermind tomorrow afternoon.”
”Vince, I want to meet Nyelle before that happens.”
Vince caressed Yve's cheek and wiped the wetness caused by her tears and said,
”I knew you would say that. I arranged for it tomorrow morning.”
”Thank you, Vince.”
Yve hugged him tightly and from her touch, Vince realized that Yve was trembling.
'Why does she need to experience betrayal all over again?' Vince thought to himself as he embraced his Queen.
”Don't worry too much. I'll accompany you if you want.”
”Hmmm...” Yve answered and nodded while in Vince's warm shoulders.
After a few minutes staying that way, Yve said,
”If you have work to do, just continue. I'm going to sleep already.”
With that Yve walked away from Vince and went to her room. This act of hers got him more worried. Thus he fixed some of his papers and hurriedly followed Yve towards her room. When he knocked on the door and heard nothing, he got more worried and immediately went to his room to get the master key.
The next scene he saw broke his heart to pieces.
