198 Wedding Day 4 (1/2)

'I now pronounce you husband and wife. Mr. Vincent Gray, you may now kiss the bride.'

Vince graced his finger on top of his lips as he remembers the kiss they shared in the garden that marks Yve as his wife.

”Finally!” He remarked alone as his wife suddenly stood up.

They are back in the ballroom where a complete set-up was places. Its arrangement fits the wedding reception well. As he looks around the place, he saw Haru commanding the staff and noticed the menu placed on the table is the one they tasted. His and Haru's eyes met and had an exchange of thoughts for a short while.

'So this is what you're up to with Yve?'

'Yes so don't even think of being jealous because she's totally into you. I would also not dare still your woman.'

Yve had changed into a different dress, a cocktail and simple one at that. It's a white lace without sleeves. The length of the dress is longer at the back side creating some frills. Her shoes are a bit higher than usual but contain laces and ribbons to fit in the dress perfectly.

”For the information of our dear groom, the invited guests knew about this surprise wedding which was the reason behind their prepared looks. Now, the bride isn't finished with her surprises. Let's start the reception of the wedding with a performance from our bride, Mrs. Yvory Smith-Gray. Around of applause, please.”

With that introduction, the spotlight of the ballroom focused on Yve who is now sitting by the grand piano. In the minds of everyone, with her posture, she is definitely going to play the instrument. On cue, her fingers touched the keys of the piano in an instrumental and started a narration.

”I believe anyone can do a background check and find out that my husband and I were once a couple back in college. Due to some unforeseen events and immaturity, we broke up. With all the things that happened to me, one song comes to my mind. This song is originally sung by Lil' Eddie. Now, I'm going to sing the song as a female version. It's entitled, Statue.”

Then everyone's eyes focused on her and nothing else can be heard inside the ballroom, only Yve playing the song's introductory keys. After a few seconds, her beautiful singing voice joined the melody.

Oh yeah, oh yeah

Yeah, ooh, yeah

When a day is said and done

In the middle of the night, and you're fast asleep, my love

Stay awake looking at your beauty

Telling myself I'm the luckiest girl alive

'Cause so many times I was certain

You was gonna walk out of my life, life

Why you take such a hold of me, boy,

When I'm still trying to get my act right?

As soon as she finish this first verse, she stared at her husband who's looking so sincerely focused on her alone and not her performance. Since Yve wanted him to notice the lyrics of the song and know the meaning of the song as well as her reason for choosing it, she made sure not to avert her eyes from his.

What is the reason when you really could have any girl you want?

I don't see what I have to offer

I should've been a season

Guess you could see I had potential

Do you know you're my miracle?

Despite being a famous song for the younger generation who are inside, they never dared to sing along with her. It wasn't because of fear. They respected the couple and knew that the lyrics of this song are the messages of Mrs. Gray to the CEO Mr. Gray. The song reach its chorus with Yve's emotional singing continues to fill the ballroom.

I'm like a statue

Stuck staring right at you

Got me frozen in my tracks

So amazed how you take me back

Each and every time our love collapsed

Statue

Stuck staring right at you

So when I'm lost for words

Every time I disappoint you

It's just 'cause I can't believe

That you're so wonderful

Don't wanna lose you, no

They are all in awe with Yve's singing voice and ability to play the piano. As they thought of her as a perfect president for an entertainment company, some of the business man inside who used to doubt her qualifications can't seem to look at her now. She proved them wrong once more.

Ask myself why are you even with me
