228 Physically Fine (1/2)

In the other side of the world, Yve just finished reviewing the files for Stones and SkyMu. She stretched her arm and noticed that clock on her table.

'It's already 3AM. I didn't even notice. I guess this is how Vince felt when at work. One loses track of time when engrossed in work. I need to sleep for a while before I go to the office.' Yve plans out as she fixes the files and heads out to the bedroom.

As she freshens up, she gets her phone and looks at the empty home screen. 'Not even a message from him. I hope he finds Mom soon.'  She pondered for a few minutes before finally sending a message to Vince.

”How's the situation there? Don't worry about me and just continue searching for Mom. Good night.” She sends the message without expecting a response from him but then a reply came.

”I've rescued her already but I still have to see her in the hospital. Why are you still awake? It's dawn in the country, right?”

She smiled for a second before noticing she slipped out the information that she's about to go to bed way past her bedtime. She took a deep breath before typing out her response,

”That's great news but why is she in the hospital? Was she hurt? I was busy with handling the affairs of SkyMu and my homework. I failed to notice the time. It's very late now so I need to go to sleep. Miss you.”

Yve didn't dare to look at the response and covered herself with the comforter and decided to sleep. The person who received the message worries then smiles. He turned to Edward and asked,

”What's the status of the changes in Stones?”

Edward was a bit caught off guard. He didn't inform Vince that he let Yve handled it. Furthermore, he hasn't called Sylvan to ask for updates because how hectic the series of events were. He masked all those fears away and made another white lie to his cousin,

”Everything is under control. Don't worry.”

”Good. Keep me updated if you noticed any irregularity.”

”Of course!”

Vince opened the door and saw his mother sleeping there. The doctor and the nurses were still checking her vital signs.

”Are you the family?”

”Yes. How's my mother?”

”Other than light marks and the bruise on her stomach, she's physically fine.” The doctor answered.

”She has a bruise on her stomach?!” Vince exclaimed.

”Yes. It could be the result of being kicked in the stomach.”

”I see. What do you mean by she's physically fit? Are there any dangers to my mother?” His anxiety for his mother's health is now evident in his face and voice.

”She had just experienced a traumatic event. We can't access her mental status now because she's asleep but I would like to conduct as psychological test to her once she wakes up.” The doctor explained.

With his every word, Vince's face turns dark which makes the entire room colder than the usual.

”Thank you, doctor.” Vince bowed to the physician as the medical practitioners did the same thing to him before leaving the room.

”Edward!” Vince's voice was soft in volume but fierce.

”Give me at least five more hours to investigate everything about this incident. For now, you can stay with Aunt. I also need to call the office back there. It's almost morning and I need to give out instructions, too.”

”Okay.”

With that, Edward left Vince with his mother. The man took his seat beside his mother's hospital bed. He can clearly see the bandage on his mother's sleeping face. He grabbed his mother's hand and kissed it dearly before whispering, ”I will make sure they will pay.”
