92 Beautiful female patient, but! (1/2)

Zhang Fan had an enjoyable time eating the expensive Russian coldwater fish banquet. Although he also had to listen to some awkward flattery from a few of the other doctors, he didn't really care, as those doctors didn't have much to do with him. Since Li Hui's face and liver both hurt, he didn't say a single word during the meal.

As Zhang Fan drove Li Hui home, he no longer said anything to taunt Li Hui. Since it was only them now, he was afraid that Li Hui would fly into a rage!

For the three-day vacation from the hospital, the second day was a Saturday. Zhang Fan had already arranged a date with Shao Hua. She told Zhang Fan that she would be okay with going out on dates and getting to know each other better, but only if she was allowed to take turns with him paying for meals together.

Zhang Fan had no objections to this, as he was quite happy already that she agreed to go out on a date with him. Shao Hua told Zhang Fan that he didn't have to drive. They just had a simple meal together followed by a walk around a park. The two of them were slowly spending more time together and getting to know each other better.

Later that day, Zhang Fan received a call from his hired handymen that they had finished renovating the bathroom in his new house. The work seemed to be quite good, or at least, Zhang Fan was unable to find any problems. After happily paying the handymen, Zhang Fan then went to the store to purchase kitchen utensils.

He used this as an excuse to call out Shao Hua yet again, asking her to help him pick kitchen utensils. They spent the rest of the day running between various stores, comparing brands and prices. Shao Hua was quite tired by the end. Zhang Fan immediately took Shao Hua home with his car after they had dinner together. She was so tired that she even fell asleep in his car on the way.

At Chasu City Hospital, the dermatology department was actually in charge of both dermatology and burn injuries. The department director was a female doctor named Gulnazar. She was renowned for being a doctor skilled at helping patients recover from burn injuries. The dermatology department was a small department, with only four doctors in total. Director Gulnazar didn't have fixed work shifts. When Zhang Fan arrived in the dermatology department, the other doctors were overjoyed because he had a medical license. This meant that he could work night shifts by himself. The few doctors here originally had to work night shifts every other day, which was really exhausting for them.

For Zhang Fan's day shifts, he worked directly under Director Gulnazar. For his night shifts, he was allowed to work alone. Work in the dermatology department could be described as both easy and difficult. There were more than 3,000 basic types of skin diseases. You would have to memorize all 3000+ of these in order to become a master dermatologist. Most skin problems could be diagnosed with the naked eye, while those which couldn't could only be diagnosed through skin tests, as the naked eye wouldn't be of any help.

However, this was only basic dermatology. Understanding more would be quite difficult, with topics such as immunology, biochemistry, genetics, cells, and so on involved. It would be impossible for most ordinary people!

There was an advantage to the dermatology department being small. The few doctors here had quite a friendly relationship with each other. They all helped each other out, just as if they were family. They had been coworkers for more than a decade already, and it even arrived at the point where they would miss each other if they didn't see each other for a long period of time, just like family would.

This was different from bigger hospital departments, where there was plenty of backstabbing and scheming due to competition over benefits and resources.

Director Gulnazar was out most of the time, receiving patients at her clinic. The other three doctors took the work shifts in regular turns.

On his first day here, Zhang Fan was unable to even diagnose a skin problem as simple as acne. Dermatology was rather specialized, so this department was different from other departments, where Zhang Fan could learn more general knowledge. However, he didn't want to waste his rotation here, so he started learning.

If he wanted to understand dermatology, he would have to study. On his first day, Zhang Fan studied everything he could about dermatology, starting at seven a.m. and not finishing until three in the morning on the next day. He only stopped once to eat lunch, and didn't even eat dinner.

Zhang Fan was so fatigued that he didn't even feel hungry. He instantly fell asleep without even washing up. He had spent the entire day trying to understand and memorize. There were far too many pictures of skin diseases in the textbook for him to remember. Not only that, there were so many skin diseases which would look similar to each other. He would easily misremember things if he didn't actively learn as he memorized!

Even his dreams were about prominent and plate-shaped papules, along with psoriasis. He woke up and found that he was drenched in sweat. He was overworking his brain.

Work in the dermatology department was relatively easy compared to other departments. This was because Chasu City wasn't highly industrialized, so very few patients would arrive with major burn injuries. More common would be patients who had accidentally scalded themselves with boiling water. Thus, there weren't many patients staying in this department, and they also had relatively few emergency surgeries to perform.

Only after one week passed did Zhang Fan gain a slightly better understanding of dermatology. The pictures of skin diseases in the textbooks would only be the most classical examples of the disease. However, not all patients' problems would exactly match the textbook pictures in real life. You would still need to be able to diagnose correctly through experience in being able to tell similar-looking skin diseases apart.

Since Zhang Fan had a lot of free time in the dermatology department, he invited Shao Hua out quite often on dates. One time, they even ran into Jia Suyue coincidentally while outside. She looked at Zhang Fan with a condescending expression that seemed to say, ”You dare to romantically pursue my friend Shao Hua?” Jia Suyue felt that love was something that should be deeply romantic, and that her boyfriend should be a prince on a white horse!
