Chapter 103 - Gifts and Airheadedness (1/2)

Gifts and Airheadedness

The time was around 8 PM. I stole a peek from outside the staff room and witnessed Hiiragi-chan working overtime.

“It’s already this late… This work is just not ending… The end doesn’t seem to be approaching any time soon…”

Hiiragi-chan took a glance at the clock and turned teary-eyed. Having to do work overtime for money is quite rough, but working until 8 is still considered cute. There were still a few teachers around, but they were gathering their things and preparing to depart.

It seems that Hiiragi-chan has been left in isolation. It was just her in the staff room. Hiiragi-chan was fidgeting around. Being alone in a place where normally other people are present ends up making you nervous. I get it.

I knocked on the window. Hiiragi-chan jumped up while being surprised.

“Fuhyaah!? …? Huh? Seiji-kun?”

With a puzzled expression she came over and unlocked the door.

“Good work.”

“What are you doing? Shouldn’t you have returned for the day…?”

“I just thought that you were working really hard. So here, a gift.”

I handed Hiiragi-chan a bag that contained a box of cookies from a pastry shop.

“Thank you. I’ll do my best.”

It wasn’t that big of a deal, but she seemed pretty moved.

“Then, good luck.”

As I was leaving, my clothes were grabbed. Half of her upper body was hanging out of the window. It felt like she was being a bit stubborn.

“Wait… I’ll make some tea…”

“No, but what about work?”

“Break. I’m just taking a bit of a break.”

Like this, it doesn’t seem like she’ll let go, and I’ll only end up dragging her out of the staff room.

“Just for a little bit, okay?”

“Eheheh. Yay! …Also, can you help me? I-I’m about to fall.”

I could see Hiiragi-chan’s legs flailing about behind her.

“Yes, yes.”

While holding onto her upper body, I returned Hiiragi-chan inside. Taking that chance, she kissed me on the cheek.

“Ah, hey.”

“Teeheehee…”

Hiiragi-chan turned around happily as she made her way to the staff kitchen. She was now in such a good mood, that it seemed like she was skipping.

I secretly entered the staff room, the door of which wasn’t closed.

“Excuse me.”

As I made an appropriate greeting and entered, Hiiragi-chan was in the staff kitchen tilting her head while comparing the different brands of coffee.

“Which one is better…?”

I don’t really care about the brand of coffee so anything should be fine, but Hiiragi-chan was muttering to herself looking while she had a bunch of question marks above her head.

“What is available?”

I entered the staff kitchen and checked.

“The one that’s placed here should be one of the other teacher’s coffee, but leaving it here implies that anyone can freely drink it.”

Located on the small shelf was a wide range of variety from instant coffee to drip coffee. Some were normal commercial brands, but there were also expensive looking brands as well.

This was the first time I entered the staff kitchen, but there really was quite a variety of things in here. There was even a toothbrush and a cup for rinsing. Even a refrigerator.
