Chapter 30 (2/2)
Ever since the 106th Division withdrew back to the battleship, Qin Hao’s deeds had been circulating around, the senior officers even saw the video recorded by James, and had turned it into a conscription propaganda video. So Pang Meng had heard of the story of ‘Qin Hao the vagabond spec ops’.
However, seeing it with his own eyes today, Qin Hao was no ordinary spec-ops, he was most likely a member of Task Force Tempest that had offended some big shots.
Task Force Tempest was a secret force under the command of the Federation’s Supreme Command. Its numbers and specific information of its members are only known to the president and a few people in the Supreme Command. Legends have it that these people all have different talents, and had undergone extremely brutal training. Pang Meng had dealt with a member of the Task Force Tempest in a previous research project, and in his opinion, the skills Qin Hao had used was similar to that of a member of Task Force Tempest.
Although he had speculations in his heart, people like Pang Meng were very shrewd. He knew what to ask and what not to ask, so he only repressed this suspicion in his heart, and did not seek verification from Qin Hao. Of course, if he were to ask, Qin Hao would be guaranteed to look at him with a blank face, because Qin Hao had never heard of the Task Force Tempest before. He was just a mere footslogger and would have no chance to come into contact with the top secrets of the Federation.
Just when Pang Meng was amazed, Qin Hao was not idle either. He used his long knife to split open the giant beetle leader’s head and burned its brains. It was only through this way it could be completely killed.
After that, Qin Hao cut off the six legs of the giant beetle leader and roasted them with fire. There was no other way, after taking on the wounded Pang Meng, their speed had slowed down significantly. Plus, there were now two more mouths to feed in Lucia and Pang Meng. While Lucia was a small eater, that roasted meat Qin Hao had was definitely not enough to feed them all the way to Coales Valley, so Qin Hao would never give up anything that he could eat along the way.
After roasting the bug legs, Qin Hao placed them all on Blackie’s back. At this moment, Blackie’s was surprisingly well-behaved. It seemed like the chemical aura Qin Hao had released made Blackie treat him like a high-level Insectoid.
“Let’s move on!” Qin Hao took Lucia off the tree and then continued to make their way to Coales Valley.
For three consecutive days, the journey was very smooth. Neither the Insectoids pursued them nor did they run into any beasts. Moreover, Pang Meng’s condition had improved a lot, and Blackie could slightly increase its pace.
“Another hundred kilometers left, let’s try to reach Coales Valley today!” Qin Hao said as he looked at the battlefield map. Because of Pang Meng’s holding them back, they had been delayed for several days now.
“Yeah!” Both Lucia and Pang Meng nodded. Although Qin Hao had the lowest rank, he was the key to the survival of the three, so no one would question his decision.
“Blackie! Hurry up!” Qin Hao told Blackie. Because Pang Meng’s injury had not healed, Qin Hao was afraid that if Blackie moved too fast it would affect his wounds. That was the reason why they moved so slowly. Now that Pang Meng was better, he did not need to worry about this anymore.
Krrrik! Blackie’s speed immediately increased. Even though it was pulling a stretcher, Blackie’s strength was amazing, and it still moved fast in the dense jungle.
Since Blackie refused to let Pang Meng sit on its back, Pang Meng could only grit his teeth and leaned on the stretcher. He had no power exoskeleton, nor a strong physique like Qin Hao, so it could only rely on Blackie to move.
As a result, Pang Meng suffered a lot on the bumpy stretcher ride, and there were many bruises on his arms and legs.
Finally, about four in the afternoon, Qin Hao and his party had arrived at Coales Valley. Upon seeing the human architecture they have not seen in a while, the three of them felt like they were in another world earlier.
“Finally here! I can finally take a nice hot bath!” Lucia stretched. The march through the jungle in the past few days had exhausted her. She was just a medic, and even with a powered exoskeleton to help her, a march of this intensity still exhausted her.
