Chapter 13 - Wouldn’t Spare Anyone (1/2)
”What she said is true. We really are legally married.”
Hearing Ruhan's words, Mr. Ahmed's face became unsightly.
He admitted!!! He really did get married!!!!
When Lisa approached him a few days ago claiming that she and his son had secretly married, his first reaction was, 'ridiculous'! His son liked to play around with girls. That was one of his biggest headaches. But he never considered about marrying them.
Mr. Ahmed obviously didn't believe her.
But when Lisa presented them their marriage certificate, he was taken aback. How could he deny such evidence?
If Lisa had not been an Akter, had she been any other ordinary girl, he could have found a way to solve this problem. Either by offering money or by offering some benefits.
But Lisa belonged to their circle. The company already had to pay heavy price for Ruhan's scandal with Samia. If this incidence came into light, of course his competitors wouldn't let it slide. They would join forces against the Ahmeds. No matter how much powerful they were, they wouldn't be able to survive a combined attack .
He had those papers checked. They were authentic. Ruhan also had had contact with Lisa 2months ago. As she claimed. There wasn't any inconsistency.
Still he was reluctant to believe Lisa. Not because he trusted Lisa, but because he knew his son too well. Whenever there was any conversation about his marriage, he would give different excuses in order to delay it. He really liked his freedom. So why would he suddenly end up marrying Lisa?
Today Lisa contacted him that if he wanted proof, he had to come to this address .
He never expected to witness this scene.
Above all, his son admitted everything, so there was no room left for suspicion.
Truth be told, he also liked this girl Lisa.
Before Lisa was engaged to Miraz, the Aktars were also hinted that if they agree, the Ahmeds would like to pair up Lisa and Ruhan. But Mr. And Mrs. Akter denied saying that Lisa was still studying and too young.
A few months later, Mr. Ahmed got the news that Lisa and Miraz were going to be engaged. He immediately understood that the excuse that was given was bogus. They just didn't want Ruhan to be their son in law.
At first he was very angry and felt humiliated. But after pondering his anger gradually calmed down. Any parents who didn't want to climb up social ladder, who genuinely thought of the wellbeing of their daughter, wouldn't accept Ruhan as their son in law.
Not to mention his promiscuous attitude, he was even unemployed. He didn't like to work at all. The only thing he was interested in was fooling around. Although he didn't lack money, he was totally dependent on his family. who would want a son in law who didn't work at all and still depended on his family for his expenses?
If Mr. Ahmed had a daughter, he also wouldn't want a son in law like Ruhan..
Thinking about this, he let go of his anger and started to think about ways to correct Ruhan.
But Mr. Ahmed failed miserably. One can not cure someone if he doesn't want to be cured.
But his approval of Lisa didn't mean that he would allow them to elope together. If they wanted to marry each other it had to be by proper rituals. Not like this.
But...
Mr. Ahmed's pupil constricted. This doesn't make sense. Ruhan was bot someone who would fall in love that easily.
And Lisa was not the kind of person who would fall for someone like Ruhan.
These kids are hiding something from him.
”If you really are legally married, then why didn't you announce your marriage? Why didn't you bring her to our home?” Mr. Ahmed narrowed his eyes. He didn't believe that these inexperienced kids could continue to deceive him.
Damn it! Ruhan cursed. How was he supposed to answer?!
He was a good liar. But when in came to his father. He was always seen through.
Lisa pursed her lips. She knew that it was difficult to convince the old man.
”I could answer you..but I know that you wouldn't believe”, Lisa smiled bitterly.
Ruhan looked at her and frowned. What was she trying to do now?
”Whether I will believe or not that is not your concern. Just answer to what you are asked”, Mr. Ahmed didn't like anyone speaking in a roundabout way.
