Chapter 21 (1/2)
There was a large-scale Defense Magic Formation that isolated the entire valley’s aura in a mysterious valley.
Under the moonlight, a black shadow flashed and disappeared.
Chris stopped on a distant hillside and looked down at the Magic Circle, a chilling gaze in his dark eyes.
From the outside, it looked like an ordinary valley.
No wonder the elves could not find the missing elves even after searching for so long. The defensive magic formation here was extremely powerful. If one did not pay attention, they would not realize there was a whole other world inside this unremarkable valley.
Not only could the magic formation isolate auras, but it could also serve as a warning signal. An alarm would sound the minute someone broke in.
However, this could not stop Chris’s footsteps. He had a Body of Nature and could change magic elements in his body at will.
He could sneak in without anyone noticing as long as his magic elements and the magic circle’s defensive magic formation were kept at the same frequency.
When he came inside, he saw there were more than a dozen tents set up. It looked like a command center.
He used his magic to sense that there were no elves present.
Chris frowned. Could it be that they had moved the captured elves elsewhere?
While he was still thinking, the sound of conversation could be heard from one of the tents.
There were two Intermediate Mages and four Beginner Mages. The power present was considered extraordinary even in human countries.
When had they come to the Heavenly Night Forest, and what was their purpose?
Was this all a mystery?
Chris quietly crept to the side of the tent.
“What is Kent doing?”
A middle-aged man with a hideous scar on his face was standing on top of the tent.
He was yelling at the four people beneath him. According to the memories in Kent’s mind, Chris knew that this person was Burton, an Intermediate Mage.
Below him, four Beginner Mages stood silently, not daring to make a sound.
“Who can tell me what that bastard Kent is doing? Doesn’t he know that our plan can’t go wrong at all?”
Burton asked angrily.
According to the schedule, Kent should have returned with his brother a long time ago. However, nearly six hours had already passed.
They would have left a long while ago if they hadn’t waited for him.
Everything here would have been completely destroyed.
They had been wandering in the Heavenly Night Forest for a long time and the longer they stayed, the greater the risk of being exposed.
If word got out that they had openly violated the Ashuta treaty, not only would they be unable to bear the responsibility, but their country would get dragged into the mess as well.
However, they had to adjust their plans now because of Kent.
They would transport the captured elves elsewhere first. Then, they would wait for Kent to regroup with them before they set out to a new stronghold together.
The pressure on the four Beginner Mages doubled as they stared at Burton’s furious face.
They could only brace themselves and say, “Perhaps they’ve encountered a strong elven team that’s put them temporarily behind schedule.”
“It’s possible. We’ve captured so many elves during this window of time, and they’re not stupid. They can’t continue only sending out low-level elves.”
“I don’t think we have to worry. It shouldn’t be a problem for Kent and the others to leave even if they can’t beat the elves.”
“Besides, they have more than enough power to deal with a couple of elves.”
The expression on Burton’s face turned slightly less contorted after hearing that.
“Kent has already descended into hell. You guys can look for him there!”
At that moment, Chris’ cold voice rang out.
“Who is it!”
It was not only the four Beginner Mages who were shocked, but Burton also shuddered as he yelled.
Someone else had managed to sneak in while they were talking without him noticing at all.
