”I know that you're seeing Mei,” he revealed. Song Sheng stilled. ”Romantically. That is.”

Song Sheng couldn't deny the accusation, but he wasn't sure what to say either. He froze.

”I don't disapprove,” Song Rui began. ”Don't think that I hadn't noticed when you two were younger that you stuck to each other like tree sap.” Song Sheng's eyes widened, his lips parted.

”You don't disapprove?” he questioned, unbelieving.

Song Rui shook his head. ”No, if her parents were still alive. We would have probably set you two together,” he admitted. Song Sheng couldn't believe what his father was saying.

”I'm sorry you two can't be together so openly. I didn't expect you two to fall in love when she joined the family,” Song Rui continued.

Song Sheng was puzzled. ”You can't help us?” he asked. Song Rui shook his head. ”I don't want to make the same mistake again if anything happens to her. You're on your own,” he finished.

”But you still approve of us together?” Song Sheng asked him.

Song Rui shrugged. ”It was once a dream of ours, I will admit. But, in the end, it's her happiness that you need to consider.”

Song Sheng nodded. ”But I can make her happy,” he proclaimed.

Song Rui smiled. ”I do not doubt that.” Song Sheng rose from his seat; he bowed to his father. ”Thank you.”

Song Rui took out a cigar, placed it in his mouth, lighting. ”Don't thank me,” he began, ”Just keep her safe.”

Song Sheng nodded, ”I will.”

When Song Sheng went back to his apartment; he still found Qian Meigui fast asleep, sprawled on his bed. Her hair curtained her delicate figure. She looked peaceful, and he wondered, if he told her that Song Rui approves of them would she be happy? But then that may encourage her to reveal her identity, and he wouldn't know what to do if he lost her.

Song Sheng approached the balcony of his apartment to have a cigarette. He lit the stick, inhaling a drag. As he blew out the smoke, he heard Qian Meigui call out to him, ”Sheng?”

He turned to face her. She was rubbing her tired eyes, only wearing a long t-shirt over that ended at her thighs; her long brown hair cascaded over her shoulders, curving over the point of her b.r.e.a.s.ts.

”What's wrong?” she asked.

”I went to speak to my father,” he began. ”He knows.”

Qian Meigui stilled. ”Knows what?” she asked with her voice slightly afraid.

”He knows we're together.” She took a step forward. ”And what did he say?”

Song Sheng exhaled. ”He said he doesn't disapprove.” Qian Meigui clutched a hand at her chest, sighing in relief. ”But he doesn't approve either,” Song Sheng finished.

”Is that why you are smoking?” she asked him with a tired voice. She approached him closely. ”Mhm,” he responded. Qian Meigui reached the rails of the balcony; she tilted her head to face him.

She pushed the strands of his hair over to the side so that she could see a better view of his eyes. She stared at him. Song Sheng inhaled another drag of smoke when their eyes met. She smiled, looking happy.

”Why are you staring?” he asked her curiously, though, he didn't mind it.

”Did you know you look handsome whenever you smoke?” she responded.

Song Sheng exhaled the white smoke into the air. ”Do I?” he asked, his voice low and husky.

”Mhm,” she began. ”But it's not good for you. I don't want you to do it a lot.”

Song Sheng chuckled. ”Then when should I?” he asked her as he placed the cigarette bud in his mouth, his cheeks hollowed as he took another drag.

Qian Meigui shivered. It was hard for her to resist the deepness of his tone, the playfulness, the seduction. She flushed, approaching closely once more until there was little space between them. ”Only when I am around,” she breathed.

Song Sheng breathed the smoke out once more, throwing the bud onto the balcony floor. He swiftly grabbed hold of her waist, picking her up so that she could wrap herself around his body.
