588 Super Recruit 1 (1/2)
There were three types of positions in the officer rank.
First of all, there was the aide, who defends the Generals and plays the role of the last Bulwark.
And secondly, there was the Lance who pierced through the enemy loopholes with maneuverability almost to the level of Assault generals.
Then lastly came the Knights, who were at the forefront of the battlefield with observable maneuverability and breaking through capacity.
And of the three, there was one position that Ian didn't even consider taking.
'Aides are so bad, but they are too defensive.'
And for the current battlefield, the position of the Aide was much more important than that of the Generals.
It was because the skills of the aide's would determine the life or death of the High General.
The life or death of the High General was directly connected to the victory or loss of war.
In particular, if one could make good use of the synergy with the defensive general who could participate along with the aide in battles, the aide could be a position like a reserve in an adverse situation.
But for Ian, who was already in the middle of the enemy camp, the position of aide made no sense.
As he was too far away from his own camp, he was nowhere in reach of the generals.
That left Ian with just two choices.
What position did Ian choose between the lance and the knight?
[The celestial army user 'Ian' has chosen the position of 'Knight'.]
[The combat stats of user 'Ian' will be reset.]
Along with the system messages, a golden light spread around Ian.
On the battlefield, it was a gorgeous effect that announced the first promotion.
Ian's position was that of the 'knight'.
- Knight
Rank: Officer
Movable distance: 5 spaces (No backward movement)
Located in the back row of the front soldiers, you can move up to five spaces.
When you move along a straight path (including the diagonal lines), each move increased the attack by 2%.
(If ever turned in any direction during the movement, the attack buff doesn't apply.)
Attacking the enemies with a maximum of 5 space movement in a straight line will deal an additional 15% increase in attack damage.
*If with charge you reach the last row of the enemy line, you will be summoned to last row of allies.
The Knights and Lances had their own advantages and disadvantages.
The lance had a range of eight space movement similar to that of the assault generals, but there were the disadvantages that caused the combat stats to drop when attacked by the enemy.
On the other hand, the knight had a fatal flow as to not being able to move backward, but it had the merit of moving five spaces and a range of extra buffs when moved in a straight line.
Which was why Ian had to think a lot before making a decision.
'Lance is surely more stable, but for me in this situation, the knight is surely better.'
The difference in movement between 8 to 5 wasn't neglect-able.
Especially when in the midst of the enemy, one space was all it needed for occupying a position.
But Ian had taken the knight.
The reason was that the current position of Ian was perfect for taking advantage of the knight.
'Catch one with one turn, and the next turn escape immediately.'
Ian was currently just seven spaces away from the last row of the enemy camp.
Which meant that he could move to the end in just two turns.
Once he reached the end of the map, he could warp into his friendly camp using the unique characteristics of the knight.
If he went to the last row of the enemies, he could be moved to the last row of the allies' side.
Then who was going to be the target that Ian wanted to catch?
It was the 'aide' who defended the High General of the Devil Army.
The aide position was exactly five spaces from Ian.
If the aide didn't move and held onto the defensive mode for the next turn, then he would be able to make the most out of the knight buff.
'2 percent per square plus 15 percent buff. A total of around 25 percent buff.'
Surely, unlike the assault captain's offensive buffs, only the 'attack' stats were going to be increased, and not the entire combat stat, but even that was very high.
And if the win buff was added to the current buff, then surely an uncanny power could be exerted.
Considering that the equipment of Ian was at least twice as good as the other users, the aide could be cut.
”The variable is the Devil Army's defense captain…”
Ian's eyes went to the right side of the Devil Camp which had the 'defense captain' standing.
And the right side was the route that Ian had taken to attack the enemy line.
And the defense captain was slightly ahead.
As the captain had come forward, the soldiers would be able to move much more confidently.
'In the next turn, I need to move two spaces forward. I need to do that.'
If the defense captain came to another two steps forward, then Ian could attack the aide with any interruptions.
And Ian was sure that he would.
The general always guarded the two aides but it wasn't going to be dangerous, it was natural for the defense captains to be more aggressive at the later part of the game.
'Nice, the operation is perfect…!'
With shining eyes, Ian looked at the enemies.
And in the meantime, the turns of both camps began to pass.
[The battle is over.]
[The 'Devil' army has won!]
[Soldier of the 'Celestial' army has been summoned outside the battlefield.]
