Chapter 14 - A Person Like Me Doesn’t Deserve to Live or Breathe! (1/2)

Fu Sichen was still completely unaware of Pei Zhen’s situation. This allowed Pei Zhen some room to breathe.

But, his immediate priority was taking a good look at his body that was now lying in a hospital ward. So, he wasn’t in any mood to focus on the whole “standing up to pee” debacle.

Xiao Nian was still at the hospital.

He felt extremely guilty seeing Pei Zhen’s unmoving body lying on the hospital bed.

From far away, Pei Zhen could hear crying and wailing coming from his room. It sounded rather depressing.

At the very least, he had a conscience. Pei Zhen couldn’t help but feel comforted that he was being missed. He decided that once he recovered, he’d give Xiao Nian a raise. To tell the truth, it really hadn’t been easy on him being his manager all these years.

They turned the corner before seeing that the door to his ward was wide open. The latest popular soap opera was playing on the television that was mounted on the wall. With his back facing the entrance, the Great Manager Xiao was crying his eyes out along with the leading actress on the show.

“Why?! Is it because I’m not pretty enough, or is it because I don’t love you enough?! Why did you cheat on me?!”

Xiao Nian wailed even louder now. “Bastard! To think that my little Ruru was so loyal to you!”

Pei Zhen was aghast.

Jumping down from Fu Sichen’s shoulder, the furious Pei Zhen dashed straight at Xiao Nian, and swiftly gave him a taste of his claws.

This was really too much! This called for a pay cut!

“The doctor said he’d be fine.” Now, the wounded Xiao Nian covered his face in remorse, “It’s just a coma.”

Fu Sichen sat on the chair with Pei Zhen on his shoulder. Both human and cat had the same cold stare trained on Xiao Nian.

“It’s my fault. I know it’s my fault.” Unable to handle the weight of his gaze, Xiao Nian broke down. “Pei Zhen, Pei Zhen is in a coma, and here am I watching TV. I… I’m a great sinner! A person like me doesn’t deserve to live or breathe!”
