218 Chapter 218: Are You Jealous? (1/2)
Ken and Kylie sat in a booth at a nearby coffee shop. Ken had been very persistent, and in the end, he refused to leave unless they went for coffee. In order to help the time fly, Kylie began to chat with him. As she stirred her coffee, she said, ”Ken, tell me something about your aunt.”
Ken frowned and said, ”Are you dating me, or are you dating my aunt?”
”First of all,” Kylie replied, ”I am not dating either of you. Second of all, if you can't even handle a little chit chat, I leave.”
Ken sighed and said, ”My mom and dad died in an accident when I was five. I've lived with my aunt for half a year. Then she married Laurence and sent me to an orphanage. She just wanted to get rid of me.
”It was bad at the orphanage,” he continued, ”so I ran away. I broke into my Aunt's house through the doggy door. While I was there, I overheard my aunt and Laurence talking about money…”
Ken looked up at the ceiling as if he'd lost his train of thought. Kylie wasn't prepared to let it go through because she suspected that some of this had something to do with her mother. ”Go on,” she prodded him.
”Why are you asking these questions?” he moaned.
”Somehow,” she replied, ”it seems important.”
Ken took a sip from his coffee and held the cup for a couple more minutes. Finally, he said, ”Laurence said to my aunt that he wanted to get a divorce so that he could marry into a richer family – and he promised that he would take my aunt into the family after he succeeded.”
”So…” Kylie sighed, ”The only reason that Alice Devis has been supporting you financially is that you found out her secret. But why would any rich family in their right mind want Laurence around?”
Before Ken could finish, someone touched Kylie's shoulder and said, ”Lord Ethan wants to see you.”
Kylie turned around and found herself face to face with Eliot. Elliot bowed respectfully and pointed to the French window. Outside, she could see Ethan's car, and she wondered how long he'd been sitting there.
Ken followed her eyes, and when he saw Ethan's car, he said, ”You don't have to go…”
”I do, though,” Kylie replied as she dropped a hundred dollar bill on the table. ”My treat,” she said as she walked away with Eliot.
As Kylie got into the car, Ken picked up the hundred dollar bill and kissed it.

The car stank of cigarette smoke, and as Kylie stepped inside, she cursed and said, ”Ethan, you smoke too much. It is a disgusting habit!”
Ethan took a deep breath, snuffed out his newly-lit cigarette, and asked Elliot to drive.
Once they were on the road, Kylie asked why Ethan wasn't at work and if it was because he missed her too much. Ethan scowled and asked him what she'd been doing out with Ken White.
”It was nothing,” Kylie replied. ”We were just discussing something.
Ethan frowned and said, ”What were you discussing at a coffee shop that couldn't be discussed in the office?”
Kylie stared at him. ”Are you jealous?”
”No,” Ethan replied. ”I'm worried about your safety.”
