5 Melanie (1/2)
Another day passed by, a day that was strangely short considering I didn't have that much work to do. Now that the project was underway and the tasks had been split, I had to start working on a design for their new website; however, inspiration just doesn't come when I want it to. I might as well take my time and enjoy a little break tonight.
All those business meetings and traveling made me tired without even realizing it. A good dinner and some coffee might do me good. Just as I was going through my plans for the evening, a key in the lock turned and the door opened with a small squeak.
”Welcome home Mell!” I said as I was just thinking of making dinner for two. ”You're just in time, I have some free time and I wanna make some pasta, wanna join me?” I tried to soften my voice as I knew she could be pretty feisty when she was tired.
”I'm not hungry Luc.” A deep and lascivious voice answered me. I liked the way my name just rolled on her tongue, it reminded me of how she once was such an innocent girl, following me to school and hanging with my friends.
How could I have resisted her when she tried so hard to make me hers. Unfortunately, these last few years I have been busy since founding my company and I wasn't able to spend a lot of time with her, but maybe we should go on a vacation for a week after this project is done. We could go back to St. Kitts where we went for our honeymoon. I was just thinking about proposing that when Melanie, my dear wife, appeared in front of me adjusting her glasses on top of her nose and looking straight at me.
”I could go for a cup of coffee if you're offering,” she said while throwing me a small wink that took me by surprise. It had been a while since we just relaxed together at home.
”Sure, I was gonna make one for me as well, maybe we can watch a movie after.” I offered, happy that I could relax in her company.
”Sorry dear, I still got work today.” she simply replied with a cold tone that made me feel at a loss for words.
”Problems with the restaurant?” I asked trying to get on her good side as she seemed to be annoyed with me for some reason.
”Just a new chef is giving me headaches.” She replied while flipping through some documents over at the bar in the kitchen, while I was making the coffee.
”Want me to go beat him up?” I asked jokingly as I knew she liked my bad boy side from high school, although I didn't really mean it. Her reaction though made me wonder about that, as she flinched and looked at me with her sharp brown eyes. I thought I could see a hint of fright in them but it was just for a fraction before she returned to a cold stare.
”I can handle it.” She muttered while glancing towards the espresso machine. In just a couple of minutes, we were both sitting at the bar drinking our coffee in silence. I watched Mell sip on her coffee while her eyes were scanning the papers in front of her.
