42 Chapter 42: Together (1/2)
”Well...I have to say I'm impressed. I never thought you humans would thwart my subordinates with that measly power.”
Loud laughter boomed across the field as they watch Lyndel stand up, voicing out her amazement. She clapped her hands praising them for their victory.
” But”
Lyndel's eyes suddenly glanced over at them and continued, ”I can't let you gloat for long.”
Then her eyes moved on to meet cold blue eyes and smirked, ”I can't let you live.”
Instantly, the surroundings dropped a few degrees. The cold chills emitted from the demon leader quivered the soldiers. They looked at thunder squad as their only hope to save them from the nightmare.
Lyndel knew they would lose once Freya was taken out of the equation. She wasn't sure whether the rest of them would have hidden skills but she was sure of the fact that Freya wouldn't be able to utilise that special move again.
Two times a day had already crossed the limits given the circumstances.
Lyndel walked slowly as she said, ”I'm sure you are aware that with your heavenly power combined with your artefact, it still won't be enough to defeat me.”
Freya gritted her teeth as she spat out, ”You never know unless you try.”
As soon as she conveyed those words, she stood straight and mustered the lightning within her. She winced slightly but recomposed her countenance soon.
Jinha looked on worriedly, ”Stop that.. you will just damage your body.”
She smiled helplessly, ”Do we have any other choice?”
Everyone looked grimly towards the one demon standing far and smirking at them. Even though they defeated her soldiers, no one felt like they could escape the calamity today.
It's just that they could feel the immense pressure from her even with her not revealing it.
Lyndel watched as these fools try to stay brave in front of her with that little leverage bestowed upon them.
When Lyndel let out her aura, the soldiers retched blood as they couldn't withstand the pressure unravelled. The aura was slowly wrapping around them and strangling them like a serpent coiling through their body.
Usui's complexion paled further under the immense aura. He didn't have time to care about his body when he noticed Freya wince. He was about to move towards her when Freya's stern glance rooted him to his spot.
”I don't want you to be in my way.” her words rang beside his ears.
He closed his eyes grudgingly, he was hating himself for being weak, for making her feel like he was a burden rather than her ally.
He clenched his fists tight as he exhaled. He concentrated on gathering enough mana in his core. He wanted to help out a little, even if that path meant losing another chance in life.
