Chapter 59 - The Next Hero...? (1/2)
The eternal flame kept in a clear glass jar was replaced by another item that was once again floating in mid-air.
”The next item we have brought for you is this special sword that is said to have been wielded by the great Edler!”
Hecathe almost choked on empty air as he heard the name. He would have to be a fool not to recognize that name!
Alphius Edler... The great Edler.
”The hunter whose mere name needs no introduction! The hero that eventually succumbed to death after bravely facing a Dorgon!” The auctioneer announced as if he was telling the tale of a great hero who would never be forgotten even after his death.
There was no other man that could fit the description given by him. The auctioneer was basically claiming that this sword used to belong to Alphius's father!
”This sword was said to have been lost after his death but it seems that the heavens above wanted a new hero to rise! A new hero who could come forward and take this sword left behind for them!”
Hecathe's face cringed up in disgust as he immediately realized the tactic this tricky man was trying to use.
”I would like everyone here to ask yourselves a question,” The auctioneer's eyes glanced throughout the place as if he was observing every move made by the people present today, ”Ask yourselves if you are brave! Ask yourselves if you have the courage to take the great responsibility! Ask yourselves if you want to wield this sword! Do you want to become the next hero?!”
The auctioneer was basically trying to use emotions to make people bid and it seemed to have worked as everyone listened attentively to him and most of the people looked ready to raise their hands as soon as the bidding was open.
”I wonder who would take home the sword of the hero today,” The man chuckled as he commented, ”We shall soon see!”
”The starting bid is five hundred thousand Lenix!” As soon as the auctioneer announced this, people didn't waste any time as they started raising their hands one by one.
Within just a few seconds, the bid was already raised to ”Two million Lenix!”
Hecathe sighed and shook his head as he mentally wondered how dumb someone had to be in order to be influenced by the auctioneer's words.
A sword was not the one attacking.
Even if you gave a child a fountain pen worth a fortune, he would still not be able to do beautiful calligraphy. The best you would get would be a scribble of a weird-looking dinosaur.
It was only natural that the same could be said about this sword as well.
It might have once belonged to the great Edler, but just because it was once used by that man, it didn't make the sword more special.
No matter who won this bid today, they would still not become the next hero.
”T-twenty million Lenix...!” The auctioneer stuttered as he looked up and announced with a bit of surprise, ”From our lovely customer up at seat 87!”
