Chapter 114 - Are You Okay?! (1/2)
Hecathe didn't bother saying anything as he also left the dining area and headed back upstairs to his room where LeiLei and the Dorgon were patiently waiting for him.
”Sir!” LeiLei immediately stood up from the chair as she saw the door opening to reveal Hecathe coming back inside in one piece.
”Are you okay?!” The girl anxiously questioned as her eyes trailed along Hecathe's body curiously.
Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line and looked back at her with an unimpressed expression.
Even if Marvin and Hecathe were to seriously fight, Hecathe was sure he would win, but it seemed that he was the only one confident about this.
Hecathe sighed as he shook his head and decided not to answer her question.
”What about you? Why are you still here?” Hecathe changed the topic as he asked with a small frown.
LeiLei blinked in surprise as she suddenly heard this and took a few seconds to reply.
She gave a toothy grin as she spoke up, ”I like this room better.”
”...”
”Master, you can throw her out,” The Dorgon yawned as he suggested.
”Sir, the other room is really dusty,” The girl added with a small pout as she tried to look pitiful, however, Hecathe felt no pity for her.
”You're lying again,” Hecathe pointed out as his eyes narrowed down on the girl, ”The dust is not the real problem, is it?”
LeiLei gulped as she heard this and cursed in her head as she looked at the floor and nodded her head ever so slightly.
Hecathe sighed as he saw this and asked, ”What is the real problem?”
LeiLei looked to be a bit anxious as she answered softly, ”I can't get used to it.”
”Used to what?” Hecathe tilted his head ever so slightly in confusion as he asked.
”I've never had a room all for myself so I can't get used to it.”
Hecathe couldn't help but frown as he heard this and his eyebrows creased together in worry as he questioned, ”Then where did you live.”
”Behind the gambling den,” LeiLei shrugged her shoulders as she spoke, ”The two old men who raised me would also sleep there. They all had separate hay beddings and they would lay it out on the floor to sleep.”
”Just them? What about you?”
”I would sleep on the floor,” LieLei answered honestly and now Hecathe knew why the girl found it more comfortable to sleep on the floor.
”What an unfortunate child... Master, we've heard her story, you can throw her out now,” The Dorgon commented from the side, but was once again ignored by Hecathe.
”Then you are not used to sleeping in an empty room?” Hecathe questioned with a frown as he thought about it, ”But if you've been living like that, shouldn't it be more comfortable to sleep alone in your own room?”
LeiLei immediately shook her head as she heard this and muttered, ”I'm afraid to be alone...”
”Afraid?” Hecathe repeated as he waited for an explanation.
The girl nodded her head as she added, ”It's the same feeling like that day... When my parents abandoned me...”
Hecathe's eyes widened ever so slightly and he could finally understand why she was so persistent to not move out of here.
If he remembered it right, she had said that her parents were already dead and as an orphan, she was abandoned to the streets where she found the two old gamblers who took her in and gave her a job.
Hecathe sighed as he stepped forward and raised his hand to rest it against the top of her head.
This was probably the first time he was patting someone on the head and the man didn't seem to have realized it himself how odd it was of him to act this affectionately.
LeiLei's eyes widened ever so slightly and she gulped in surprise.
”Master, don't let the witch trick you. Throw her out.” The Dorgon also sounded as if he had made up his mind but Hecathe didn't let the creature's comments enter his mind.
”Then you can take Eggy with you. I'm still going to ask you to leave my room.”
