Chapter 196 - Im Afraid Things Arent That Easy. (1/2)
”But that's why we are standing here,” Lara shrugged her shoulders as she spoke and this one sentence was able to reveal a lot about her.
At this moment, Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on her and he wondered just how much was it that she really knew.
”Then let me be the one who ends this as well,” Marvin gritted out as he spun his double-bladed saber.
Lara smiled as she heard this, ”I'm afraid things aren't that easy.”
Marvin immediately threw the saber forward, aiming at the girl, but at the very last possible second, she disappeared into thin air and the only thing left in her place was a small stone that had been shattered by the blade.
Marvin gulped as he saw this but it seemed as if he had already expected this to happen.
Hecathe, on the other hand, was clearly shocked and immediately snapped his head towards LeiLei.
There was only one person here who had the ability to do such a thing, but when Hecathe turned to look at her, he couldn't help but feel that there was something wrong.
LeiLei was acting normal...
It didn't look like she had been controlled by Lara. In fact, if Hecathe were to put a finger on it, he would say that it almost seemed as if the girl had made the decision to help Lara all on her own.
Hecathe gulped as he raised his hand and the Dorgon that had previously been flying in a circle over the city now came down and snatched Hecathe away from the stage in front of everyone.
”Do you see this? This is the power of the great emperor,” The Dorgon happily boasted as if he was waiting for Hecathe to agree and compliment him.
”The great emperor is indeed great at showing off,” Hecathe responded and the Dorgon was not sure if this was a compliment or just a sarcastic remark.
”I have a question,” Before the Dorgon could say anything, Hecathe immediately changed the topic as he spoke up and asked, ”Why is she unable to read my mind?”
”Hmm?” The Dorgon sounded a bit surprised as he heard this question and instead of giving the answer straight away, he asked another question in turn, ”You really don't know?”
Hecathe frowned as he heard this, ”Well I guessed that it was because I'm not the real owner of this body.”
”Master, that's not it,” The Dorgon explained with a sigh, ”It's because of that ring on your finger.”
Hecathe was a bit shocked and confused as he heard this so he fell speechless and looked down at the ring that had been given to him by a random old lady.
”It's like a barrier. It protects you.”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and he felt as if luck had really been on his side this time.
”Now,” The Dorgon stopped going forward and flapped his wings to stay on air as he asked, ”Where shall the havoc start?”
Hecathe chuckled softly as he heard this and commented, ”Your highness, be honest with me. You just joined me because you want revenge, isn't that right?”
It was the first time Hecathe had referred to the Drogon with such respect and surprisingly enough, he wasn't being sarcastic this time.
The Dorgon also chuckled as he heard this question, ”You are nothing more than a mere mortal. What made you think I'd listen to you if I saw no personal gain in it?”
”...”
Hecathe suddenly didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this.
It seemed that Hecathe's plans had been imperfect since the very beginning. He thought he was the one who was controlling everyone else but it seemed that he was also nothing more than just a pawn strategically placed in this chessboard by someone else.
At this point, he wondered if it really had been Alphius who had brought Hecathe into this world.
”Hecathe, you still have a lot of surprises waiting for you so hang in there,” The Dorgon spoke with a teasing chuckle and Hecathe almost felt as if he was being treated as a fool.
The Dorgon took a deep breath in and with a single swing of his wings, he went down towards the city with all intentions of attacking.
Hecathe could no longer control this Dorgon so he decided to stay on the creature's back and didn't bother trying to stop him.
The Dorgon opened his mouth and breathed out ice, freezing everything that came in his way.
