7 Mortal Black Jade (1/2)

After hearing his wife scream from agony for so long, Fan Ying began to anxiously pace about the room. Many physicians tried to placate him as they convinced him it was normal.

”Lord Fan, we know it sounds bad but this is her first time giving birth. It's normal. The pain is excruciating but this is what all women have to go through when giving birth.”

The handsome, anxious young man sat down but he couldn't stop worrying. He was handsome, tall, strong, and had the aura of a ruler but all that was turned into ashes at the thought of his young wife. His shirt was already wet with his sweat as if he was the one suffering the most. He waited and waited but as the clock ticked by all he could hear were her agonizing screams. It was heart wrenching. His heart was in pain hearing her suffer so much. She was his most prized treasure. She was his everything. He remembered the day in which they met. He had walked by the street to see the most beautiful girl dressed in white reading a book next to a tomb. He saw her frail figure tremble as she cried for her late brother. She read him his favorite stories and tried to smile as much as she could every time she went to visit him. He had seen her kindness and love towards her brother. By the time he realized he loved her, he was already wrapped around her small little finger. He would do anything for her happiness so when he listened to her pain filled voice he felt like he was going mental. His soul couldn't take it much longer.

His dark ocean blue eyes fluttered with anger, impatience, but most of all fear. He was a mighty general that even the king was afraid to offend but here he was, scared witless for his wife. Nobody had ever seen him in such condition. Many of his men had frozen in shock at such a sight. They had no idea how to react. Some even slammed their heads on a wall to lose consciousness. The all cried silent tears as they thought

[It's better to do this than ruin my god's image. It's the only way.]

He was a mighty figure that everyone loved and respected. He was an image of fear to some but he was a god to his men. How could they stand seeing their god in such a way? It was impossible!

The physicians ran about carrying all the unconscious bodies to another room.

[Mister, can you stop giving us more work]

They whipped away their silent tears and continued working.

All this while Fan Ying was oblivious to his surroundings. His mind was occupied with thoughts of his wife.

[I should go in. No! She's giving birth. Our child is being born. What if I harm them both by going in?

But, it has already been so long. What's going on?]

He paced anxiously around the room and even stepped over some of his men's' bodies without noticing. If they were awake, they would surely cough out blood in shame and anger. The physicians could only shake their heads in pity.

Eventually the screaming stopped but there were no cries of a baby afterwards. Fang Ying panicked. His heart dropped. He felt as if all the blood in his heart was being squeezed out. His eyes reddened. He was already on the verge of tears.

[Could it be? What happened? Where's the child? Did..did..it die?

No my child is strong. It kicked about in her womb a lot. It had a lot of energy. It was OUR child.

This can't be happening.]

As he panicked, he let his emotions lead him and burst into the room in which his tired wife lay.

She was tired and tears came out of her eyes. He rushed to her side and asked, ”What happened? Wheres our child? No, wait. Even if something did happen, all that matters is that you are safe. Don't blame yourself.”
