28 90 days (1/2)

The sun quickly began to set and she had yet to awaken. The emperor fumed at everyone he didn't realize how much he cared for her until then. That small smile plastered on her face. That first encounter they had. She entered so bravely and full of spirit to look for him and was punished for it but even after that whenever she saw him she would smile. They had few encounters but they were memorable. She was small and fragile and it made him fear breaking her when she sat on his lap. He would look at her sleeping face when she had yet to awaken and comfort her when he could. It made him want a child and it also made him regret losing his son. If only he had been a better father, he could have been as happy as Fan Ying when he looked at his happy daughter.

He stared at her small face that contorted in pain.

”Incompetent fools! Why are you wasting time! If you can't help then leave! You're just wasting her precious air.”

Everyone left. There was nothing to do. They tried everything but she still didn't wake up.

Night emerged and they had to head home dispirited and disappointed.

-Fan Daiyu-

Torture.

I can't think straight anymore. My body has become numb to everything they do to me. I don't flinch at the knife, needled, scalpels, gun shots, chemicals, or the vicious animals that tear at my skin. It's all the same.

My head feels like it's going to explode. I can hear their footsteps before they even enter the room. It's suffocating but I'm used to it. They don't let me die but they don't let me live. I need to run but no matter what I do I get caught and the tortures become more intense. My body is weak and my will to live has long been extinguished. I need freedom. I dream of it but I forgot what it was like. Now such a simple thing seems like a farfetched joke.

I give up.

Ah. The light has come again.

Hmm? A different person? No!

She is the girl that hates me but why is she freeing me.

I tried to focus but no matter how I looked the girl was never visible. She threw my body into the garbage and soon I was thrown away. I looked at her in confusion and she said something. I couldn't hear but my heart still trembled before the last bit of love withered away.

{I don't want to remember anymore. I don't want to lie to myself anymore. I don't want to believe in love anymore.}

I could hear the small voice. It was so far away but so clear in my ears.

I fainted. I looked at the dark scene and another came into view. This time nothing was blurry. Everything was as clear as day and even without the image in front of her she would still be able to describe every aspect of the place. It was her valley.

-Mortal courtyard-

Nuwa Yenay and Fan Ying arrived at their courtyard late at night and fell asleep in fatigue but their sleep was uncomfortable and little. They would wake up at random times to check up in their child but it had little result. After a while, they both gave up and finally went to sleep with unsettled hearts.

Long Wei and Mallory got to know each other but immediately felt rivalry coming from one another. They were both servants now and both of them were cared for by the young miss but who would gain her favor?

However, they put aside their differences and worried separately for the tiny child. They took turns keeping watch over her. They were like vicious wolfs guarding their master.

Hours passed by and silence encompassed the home. Everyone was sleeping except for one young child.

Long Wei stood in the room waiting for any sign from her for anything to show that she would awaken. She was so small and it made him feel pity, anger, and sadness.

-Fan Daiyu-

Everything went dark afterwards. There was no torture, no memories, and no valley. Only darkness. She was free from her constraints, so she opened her eyes.

[Hmm.

I'm back.]

She hadn't realized when it happened but she was already crying. She felt hungry, abandoned, tired, and confused. She looked around and saw Long Wei dozing off. He was trying his best to stay awake and it only made it much more comical.

”Long Wei…Log Wei!”

Her voice was small and it cracked when she tried to whisper. It seemed she was out for a long time. She didn't cry out anymore because the small boy by the door immediately jolted awake and slowly turned. His eyes widened in surprise and happiness.

”Call mommy and daddy.”
