40 Eldest Daughter (1/2)
Two small children stood before the giant mansion.
People passed by and gazed at the slim girl, she was a mystical child. She was still young but she was ethereal. Her beauty transcended anything that they had ever seen before. Many of them found her dazzling hair familiar and as she turned around her unique eyes brought back the image of that small girl that had shocked them silly with her intelligence and beauty. News spread like fire and by the time she had knocked for the third time on the door the nearest market was full of her news. People began rushing over and crowding around the general's home.
After seeing her themselves, they could finally believe it. She was still alive.
But….
Why had the general announced her death? Was there some mistake?
Fan Daiyu underestimated the influence and image she had left on everyone. Although she was quickly forgotten, it didn't mean she didn't leave traces behind of herself in their hearts. She was after all the most outstanding child they had ever encountered. When she thought no one would remember her, the whole kingdom rushed with the memory of her reigniting like crazed fans seeing their artist making a comeback.
By the fourth knock a small, smug girl had opened the door to reveal busy household. Maids were rushing about in anxiousness because of the seemingly special guest that had arrived. They all thought that she was the daughter of an important noble or friend because of her fame. One look and that girl had brought over multitudes.
She was definitely important!
-Pink Chambers-
As the morning light entered the beautiful girly room, a small girl woke up in a foul mood. The noise and chanter outside was so loud that it had interrupted her beauty sleep.
Although she was pretty, she was only a bit above average. She was considered a genius and a beauty but in reality she could only be passable compared to her twin brother and bellow average in front Fan Daiyu. However, being her father's little princess she felt she was above the world.
She was arrogant, prideful, and spiteful. She believed people had to beg to her despite only gaining everything from living from her father's title. Despite being less competent than him, she looked down on her brother and secretly bullied him.
Her position in the family was above his, so to her, he also needed to be at her mercy.
Growing up with the world delivered to her palms made her a cruel and disgusting child. Her egotistical personality made children hate her and parents secretly berate her. If it weren't for Fan Ying she would be nothing.
Nevertheless, that was how she grew up. Now that something had fueled her anger, there was nothing that was able to stop her from screaming at whoever caused all the chaos.
The tiny girl angrily stomped her way to the door and pushed maids to the side. Her brows were furrowed and her eyes were full of indignation and anger.
She swung the door open and she stared, stunned at the girl in front of her. She was so beautiful.
Even her own beliefs in being perfect were destroyed at the glance of the girl.
Something within her burned and stirred something within her. She could feel something she had never felt before, jealously and pure cruelty. She wanted to destroy that face and could feel endless enmity as if everything she had was at stake.
[Vixen… Disgusting… She might be pretty but I am worth more…]
Her glare intensified as she smugly looked at Fan Daiyu as if she were looking at a beggar.
”Who are you?! What do you want?!”
Some people couldn't stand her. She was so little and yet already hated by all the commoners. Her snobby attitude irritated them all unlike Fan Daiyu's simple but elegant aura. It was like seeing a rotting flower in front of a beautiful golden blooming cherry blossom tree. The rotten flower emitted at horrible smell and atmosphere while the graceful golden cherry blossom tree emitted a beautiful calming aura full of shine, gracefulness, elegance, beauty, intelligence, and an angelic feel. In their eyes only Fan Daiyu was worthy of carrying a high tittle. When she was but a baby, she smiled at others and protected a small abandoned orphan. She had compassion and kindness and her intelligence was too much to phantom.
She was perfect.
Finally, one person mocked the snobbish girl and that was followed by laughter.
”HA! You don't even recognize her! She is better than you in every way! AND… WHY CAN'T SHE ENTER HER OWN HOUSE!?”
Fan Daiyu stood staring at the small girl. She felt a gentle warmth course through her heart but it soon became a blizzard of sharp cold ice.
[She doesn't know me…. She doesn't like me….. She hates me… She is arrogant, snobbish, and spoiled… This wasn't how she was supposed to grow up. She was supposed to be protected by me and learned to be a good person. She needed to learn to be good but tough and now she seems to be but the shell of what I dreamed of stuffed with everything my mother would have hated…]
Thinking of her mother. Always so kind. Always so bright. Always so shining.
She couldn't help but tear up.
[I failed Mother. I wasn't there for them. I wasn't able to be a good sister. Although you never asked for it, I know that you would want that. You dreamed of a happy home just as I did but I might have unknowingly ruined everything. At least you didn't change. At least you loved me all the way and never blamed me. I will live on and grow strong for you mother. If it's possible I will take away the twins from father if they wish to come with me. I will make a name for myself ant yours will rise up with mine. You will always be remembered.]
She hardened her heart and looked at the angry child.
She felt her a very familiar part of her heart pound. That look on her face brought up familiar memories. They were blurry but those eyes were unforgettable. Her heart could feel love and pain as well as hate. Her head was pounding against her skull but everything disappeared in a matter of seconds. No one noticed any change with her except for the young boy next to her.
