17 Damsel in Distress Huh? Start of Volume 2 (1/2)
”Help me!” A scream echoed in the forest; it hadn't even been a day since I had descended into this layer of 'Hell' and I had already encountered someone in this vast forest; I smiled bitterly cursing my bad luck for meeting someone in distress but my curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't help but follow the sound of the voice.
”Someone help me!” The voice was more clear this time, it was a feminine voice; the person screaming was most likely a girl I thought or a girly guy.
I chuckled at the thought, honestly, I didn't care what was happening but I needed to know where I was - saving someone would probably be my best bet of getting information.
I sighed as I moved through the tree-tops moving further towards the voice, the scene became more clear: A group of bandits had ambushed the convoy, a carriage and several horses lied on the ground; the horses were lifeless whilst the carriage had a silent flame ripping through it.
”Tch, what an idiot; we're in the depths of Hells Forest and you think anyone would save you? Did you think taking this path would prevent anyone from coming after you princess? If royalty like you can bear the risk of descending into this hell how can us mercenaries who live on the boundary between life and death care?” The rough looking man laughed as he looked at the girl lying on the floor, one of her hands was on the carriage as she tried to pull herself up; the soft light of the flame slowly moving closer like a predator looking at its prey.
”Our client would really like to see you unharmed, so if you would kindly step away from the carriage and we do this the easy way I would owe you a favor.” A threatening smile was on his face as he stared at her, there was greed in his eyes as he scanned over her body; despite being young she had developed well clearly igniting the fire in this bandit's lower half.
I couldn't bear watching any longer, honestly, it was all too boring; these bandits didn't even possess the strength to scratch me let alone injure me.
I jumped down from the tree I was sitting on and leisurely began to walk towards them, ”What a cliche scene; honestly I felt like I was watching one of those scenes I had read in novels in real life!” To add some dramatic flair I started to clap my hands as I walked towards them, ”Who the fuck are you?” One of the bandits put a sword in my face, clearly ready to strike me at any moment.
”Tch, so impatient; die.” I circulated the energy in my body and flicked his forehead, the sudden shock rattled his brain and caused him to drop to the ground.
+1 XP Gained from Killing Bandit (Mortal)
”Hmm, the XP seems to decrease as I become more powerful, nonetheless XP is still XP no matter how small it is.” A river could erode a mountain with enough time; by slaughtering enough 1's I would naturally level up.
”What the fuck?! Kill him!” The rough looking man who had been talking to the woman I naturally assumed was a 'princess' from their conversation - I mean he had said it himself so unless it meant she was the princess of a noble family I'll assume she's really a princess.
”Why can they never just die quietly?” I said as I stared at him, I drew the Abyssal Daggers from my waist and imbued some energy into them; this was a little trick I had figured out in my few days wandering this forest, the daggers flew from my hands and instantly through the heads of the eight other bandits, finally decapitating the head of the final bandit who I had assumed to be their leader.
After all, you save the best till last right?
+5 XP Gained from killing Bandit (Mortal Leaving Primary)
”Tch, just a slightly bigger ant and you dared to tell them to kill me?” The feeling of being the one in control of my own life was exhilarating; I had been forced into a jail cell, out of my own home, then into the organization created by an eccentric expert madman who wanted to control Earth and rebel from his sect and now I finally had enough strength to at least control my destiny from here onwards.
”Calm... Calm down..” I trembled as I forced the feelings in my heart to disappear; I didn't have nearly enough strength to do something as audacious as control my own destiny yet, these weapons truly will be as much a curse as they are a blessing as I started to shudder, my emotions just now had been intensified by at least ten times and caused arrogance to appear in my heart tinged with complacency...
I ignored the other eight notifications of the deaths of the mortal bandits and they naturally disappeared on their own, my attention instantly turned to the blond-haired girl who was lying shocked on the ground; the carriage beside her had already turned into a raging inferno. ”Pity..” I mumbled as I looked at it, it would've been a much better alternative to walking everywhere.
I quickly reminded myself however that I had nothing to pull the carriage, the horses all lay dead on the ground with not a single one breathing anymore so the feeling of regret was quickly quelled.
