Chapter 444 - Zhou Shufen’s Last Appearance II (1/2)

Jiang Ruolan looked into Zhou Shufen's eyes that were full of sincere remorse. Although she was still as proud as ever, the apology she gave to her was not fake.

”Actually, I was still unwilling to let him go. Xian Zihao is a good man. He's not someone that any woman can have, and the reason why I always look down on you because I feel that you don't deserve him. But after so long, I finally saw it. Some things are not meant to be compared in this way, like feelings and destiny.”

Exactly as Zhou Shufen finished her words, Jiang Ruolan's hand that was holding the glass trembled slightly. She raised her eyes and smiled strangely, ”Are you leaving?”

”You and Zihao never really give up on each other, no matter how much misunderstanding occurs between the two of you. That's right, let me tell you something else.” Zhou Shufen hesitated for a moment, ”I don't know if you know what had happened between the Xian Family and Zhou Family twenty-one years ago. I don't want to say too much; I just want to tell you what happened on your  wedding day.”

”The night before your wedding, Xiaoyi suddenly had a very high fever. Although I was not very happy with your marriage, I still wanted to try my best to restore my relationship with Zihao, but after he came to send Xiaoyi to the hospital and brought her back to the hotel, he left. I couldn't hold him back. At that moment, all he wanted to do was keep his promise to you and pick you up early, but grandfather suddenly showed up and said that he wanted to chat with him. After that, I went back to my room.”

Jiang Ruolan's grip on the glass gradually tightened. She lowered her eyes and looked at the water in the glass as she said hoarsely, ”Is that so?”

After knowing the truth, Jiang Ruolan's calm demeanor made Zhou Shufen frown. She looked at her and asked, ”Is there something on your mind?”

”Actually, Zihao has explained it to me, but I still wanted to thank you for telling me all things today. Honestly, I suddenly understand why Xian Zihao liked you in the past. Miss Zhou, when you put down your jealousy and your pride, you were indeed a charming woman. I'm very grateful that you were able to say all these things today, but I have to leave now.”

With that, Jiang Ruolan stood up. Just as she was about to leave, out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a familiar black Land Rover parked outside the window. Xian Zihao got out of the car and looked in her direction.

Jiang Ruolan's expression froze as she turned to look at Zhou Shufen. Zhou Shufen also looked out the window before sighing with a smile, ”Looks like I really lost.”

Jiang Ruolan asked her, ”How did he know I was here?”

Zhou Shufen pursed her lips. ”I had called him and wanted to meet him, but he didn't agree. I told him that I also had invited you, so he asked for my location.”

With that, Zhou Shufen shook her head again, ”Honestly, Jiang Ruolan, I admit that I'm very jealous of you right now, but I also know that I brought this to myself. I can't blame anyone, and I know my own personality. It's hard for me to change it.”

Seeing Xian Zihao enter, Jiang Ruolan did not sit down. She hesitated before saying, ”Pushing away a man who you love dearly is definitely a very painful feeling, right?”

Zhou Shufen was sensitive to her words and suddenly raised her head to look at her. ”Ruolan?”

Jiang Ruolan snapped out of her daze and smiled. ”I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked such a question. I didn't mean to add insult to injury.”

Zhou Shufen frowned hesitantly. ”You always look very dreamy today. I remember every time you face me, you're always energetic and have a determined look in your eyes. Is something wrong?”

By this time, Xian Zihao had already walked over. He first looked at Jiang Ruolan, then looked at Zhou Shufen before politely nodding at her. ”Sorry for being late.  The afternoon meeting ended a bit late.”

Zhou Shufen was distracted by Xian Zihao's voice as she turned around to look at him. She smiled and replied, ”It's fine. Ruolan and I are having a good chat. It's just that she doesn't seem to be feeling well.”
